The elderly priest, speaking to the younger priest, said, "It was a good idea to replace the first four pews with plush bucket theater seats. It worked like a charm. The front of the church always fills first now.
The young priest nodded, and the old priest continued, "And you told me a little more beat to the music would bring young people back to church, so I supported you when you brought in that rock 'n roll gospel choir. We are packed to the balcony."
"Thank you, Father," answered the young priest. "I am pleased that you are open to the new ideas of youth."
"Well," said the elderly priest, "I'm afraid you've gone too far with the drive-thru confessional."
"But, Father," protested the young priest, "my confessions and the donations have nearly doubled since I began that!"
"I know, son," replied the elderly priest, "but that flashing neon sign, Toot 'n Tell or Go To Hell' can't stay on the church roof."

Taz, that is funny, but very sadly, it is very true.
How sad it is that millions of people feel that they can cleanse themselves by confessing their sins to a another sinner, and that "hailing" a sinful woman can correct their heart condition.
Your joke is humorous, yet humor is not far from reality. The modern church buildings have become little more than "den's of theives", where the ammenities are scructured to keep the cash flow growing so that the beast of religion will grow, and where the people are given a false sense of salvation based on their attendance, and their actions.
MM we have found some common ground here I see. I like you have seen religion in many cases becoming a business in attracting more parishoners or viewers to allow them to rake in more money to build bigger and better buildings and run TV and radio ads, to gain even more members to allow them to rake in even more cash!
It disgust me to see these multi million dollar church buildings when the children of Christ are be left to suffer. Many churches have gone way beyond what is needed to worship in while there are needy all over who could be assisted by the monies spent to build this abominations supposedly in the name of God!
I did find the joke amusing though![8D]

No doubt about that one. Never really understood or agreed with the Catholic faith for that reason alone. But, what the heck do I know.
As for the churches being money vacuums, well yes, some are. But, not ALL are. We can't send a broad statement to everyone out here that says all churches are bad and stay away because that's simply not true. There are many humble, God-fearing, Truth based churches out there. I think if we ask God to lead us to them and be able to discern the difference, He will guide us to them.
Funny joke though Taz!
