Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Abstinence only sex education program

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040213/D80M86780.html

What do you think will happen to the teen pregnancy rate if we only teach abstinence?

I'll be honest that's how I got here.

I'm with you Charlie. Although to be honest I don't think the government should be on this subject at all. And how can you spend 270 million dollars to tell kids not to have sex. See there, I just said it and it only took me a few seconds and didn't cost the taxpayers any cash

Of course I did, oh wait, no I didn't. My parents did teach me not to have that kind of fun, but they also taught me if I did how to protect myself, and the willing girl ;-) That is all it takes, parents being involved in there kids lives. No need to throw another 270 million down the toliet

We're lucky if the parents are involved enough to teach their kids to brush their teeth these days. Teachers have to take the role of parent for too many kids. I don't agree with abstinance-only teaching. All the how-to's on birth control must be included for those that make the choice to have sex.

And when we're educating kids on the horrors of alcohol and drugs, should we hand out nicoderm cq for them that chooses to smoke anyway?

The day a teacher tells my kids that it is okay to have sex as long as they use a condom will be the day that teacher gets my boot up their hind end.

Ben, Obviously not every child is going to listen to an abstinence only approach, right? If we don't teach anything about birth control do you think teen pregnancies will continue to go down as is the trend currently?

Why is it that in countries that are more in your face about sex ed have a lower % of teen pregnancies and STD's. I'll grant you the parents in those countries are more open with their kifs then those in the USA.

Let's say you don't want the schools involved at all in sex ed.When do you start talking with your kids about sex and the responsibilities that come with it?
