Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

You know what else is interesting...

Halliburton keeps a large share of their profits in overseas accounts, where the US can't trace or tax the interest.

Interesting, I wonder how many other big businesses do the same...

Haliburton is ripping off the American taxpayers. That may, or may not be true and I won't come to their defense.

Vice President Cheney USED to be a major piece of their puzzle, even though that ended YEARS ago. So . . . .

that means that Bush and Cheny are to blame for everything that Haliburton does today if I'm following your thinking?

The problem that I have with the way things have been handled with respect to Haliburton is that they were given no-bid contracts to do all this work in Iraq. Now, it could well be that they're the most qualified to do the work, and that they could do it cheaper than anyone else, but why not open it up to bidding? If Haliburton is the best option, then they should win the bid with no problem. If not, then what has the US lost, except a favor owed to the Bush administration?

Matt--I have no problem with opening it up to bidding. I also feel that Haliburton IS ripping us off. They're ability to do it better and/or cheaper than anyone else is certainly open to question.

What bothers me is how the media constantly draws the attention--and the implied blame--to the Vice President. Their chief ambition is to hurt him and the President because of his former affiliation. He no longer directs what Haliburton does and should not be implicated for what they're doing. If they're doing what it appears to be, then take them off the job--not place the blame on the White House.

I never said anything about Cheney.

I merely voice my opinion regarding the absolute disgust I have for corporate america -- HAVING BEEN A PART OF IT -- and the "military suppliers".....

I think i'm going to toss in the towel and become a crack whore.
