Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Taxes

Should the government be able to tax your income, and what amount should be tolerated? I am in favor of a flat tax policy of about 15%, with maybe a 3% wealth tax for those making over $500,000 a year, in a nutshell.

BigBore, you are now my official write in canidate for president. I keep waiting and waiting for a serious canidate to bring this up.

I really like the idea of a flat tax, or a national tax and get rid of the IRS. As just about every knows, the IRS can't legally tax income from a private citizen. Not legal, but they sure do

I look at it this way: the government punishes you for doing good in life. Example-My dad, a homebuilder/developer, buys a GMC 1 ton dually, loaded. Thing costs alot, and they sales taxes and other crap they add on to the purchase are insane. Second, he has to put plates on it for $1,016.83!!!! Can you believe it?!? Plus, I think that the whole welfare argument would go away if those truly needy people in America were given a subsistence allowance for food and such, but no more welfare abuses. Also, I am a firm believer that I by myself could cut the government by 30% in a year, and 95% of the population would not miss a thing. With a 15% tax rate, we could fund a military, LIMITED social help programs, schools, and law enforcement. In many areas, citizens favor privatized law enforcement, and I say great. Every household required to own a gun and away you go. Call for emergencies. This 50% tax sh!t has got to go.

Bear in mind that these are estimates and examples, and not exact. But a flat tax rate is the only responsible tax policy available.

Well you started out good and ended up flat.

Article 1 Section 9 is all for a flat "head" tax. Everyone pays (for instance) $1000 per year. Thats it. Then we had the f***ng income tax rammed down our throats which was never actually ratified.

It all started out with the "oh, YOU'RE making too much money ... lets take some..." and ended up with income tax.

What needs to be done is simply a per-head tax followed by a diktat on corporate leaders and their "bonuses".

BigBore for President in 2004

Let me tell you of the craziest tax ever. I own a business, I have to buy things from trucks to pencils. The city of Denver (before I moved because they pissed me off too much) taxed me on the things that I owned (invetory tax) for everyday use. I got taxed for the blinds that I had in my office, this is no crap. I just about flipped out when the tax lady came knocking on my door to do a "tax assestment"

There should be NO tax levied on an individual for how much money they make.

In an ideal world, there would be a flat tax on how much you SPEND.

A consumption tax, if you will.

I'm not well versed in this area, but I have heard some very compelling arguments for a national sales tax(replacing income tax). Seems like a good prospect, but I am sure it has flaws...

I don't like the idea of income tax. It requires to much of a "structure" (ala. IRS) to regulate, enforce, and insure collection. Abolish the IRS....and have a 15% sales tax. Just one 15% sales tax! And then decide immediately what percentages go to local, state, and federal government. No tax money should first go either to federal or state.....only to be funneled back down. Do the initial breakdown.....and that is it!

Many wonderful benefits come from such a system. First, no one level of government becomes interdependent upon another. (Like no more federal and state interference in Public schools. The money is already in the local coffer. So the school goes back into local control....as it should be! No more federal money to states for highways. The states will once again act like independent organizations with their own priorities. Not the lacky of a federal master.) Second, it eliminates the monster of the IRS. They have no tax codes to modify, enforce, or need to define Income....and the inevitable deductions. Third, you are only taxed based upon consumption! If you save, invest, or redivert capital back into growth....(except for consumption)......you are rewarded with "no tax". In other words....thrift is no longer penalized! Fourth, no matter how successful you are in life....you are not penalized for it. You only pay the penalty....ie. taxed....when you consume. And maybe most importantly......it eliminates the class warfare argument. Because we are all consumers....and personally make the decision on how much to consume!

The only money left for government to fight about......is what percentage goes to which level of government. They would be prevented by a Constitutional amendment to prevent there ever being another tax increase! And write it up in the Amendment.....that any such increased proposal constitutes treason! Then hang the SOB that trys to ever raise taxes again!
