RE: peter jennings made me mad tonite
They also say that about the Coast Guard, but never in the physical presence of a Coast Guardsman.
The Air Guard probably flies more missions into combat and combat areas than the regular air force in some situations.
There are C-130 crews that fly into combat zones on a regular basis, Home on Friday morning, off to where ever that evening. Get the mission accomplished and back to work on Monday.
As for the National Guard itself, they are often among the first into a combat zone and the last to leave. Since Viet Nam that has changed, but only a little. The Guard and Reserve still provide a good percentage of the troops in combat.
I'd like to see Jennings and the rest of them try to keep up with a Reserve crew just for a month.
