Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default peter jennings made me mad tonite

the media is talking about Bush's service in the national guard....
jennnings said that the national guard was used to escape service to the military during the vietnam war......... that was a terrible generalization....i know some did that... but... that was so unfair to say that about the whole generation of national guards.

anyway.... just made me mad.... didn't know if any of you heard that comment?

This from a canadian who never did any military service at all and knows nothing about how any of the national guard units operate. [:@]

They also say that about the Coast Guard, but never in the physical presence of a Coast Guardsman.
The Air Guard probably flies more missions into combat and combat areas than the regular air force in some situations.
There are C-130 crews that fly into combat zones on a regular basis, Home on Friday morning, off to where ever that evening. Get the mission accomplished and back to work on Monday.
As for the National Guard itself, they are often among the first into a combat zone and the last to leave. Since Viet Nam that has changed, but only a little. The Guard and Reserve still provide a good percentage of the troops in combat.
I'd like to see Jennings and the rest of them try to keep up with a Reserve crew just for a month.

Aaron Brown on CNN made similar comments last night. He even went as far as saying that by joining the guard, Bush "chose to take the easy way out."

He and Jennings are in the same league, IMHO.
