Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

How much can you get there on speeding? Last week here some idiot get busted driving too fast on 40km/h street. He drove about 30 - 40 km/h over the limit. Fine was 170 000 euros about 200 000 $. He didn't hit anything just police radar.

Do you think that is too much

Yes ,
that would be considered more than excessive here . In my state the minimum fine for speeding is around $100 , and grows progressively as the speed over the limit increases . The officer may arrest you for reckless driving at 25 MPH over the speed limit , and they will take your license for 30-90 days or more depending on the circumstances .

$200,000 speeding ticket ? WOW !!! John Bear , if I ever get to visit Finland I'm taking the bus !

Yes well if you are rich you should take a buss. Few years back I got fine driving 36km/h over limit and get only about 80 $ fine. Then I didn't have any income. so the fine was only that much.

John,
Tell everyone how much it costs just to get a driver's liscence over there. I've heard that in most European countries, it is extremely expensive.

Thanks!

It's just how you deal with it. I payed less than 500 $ just because I had my dad who taught me. But usually it costs about 1 500 $.

For. pro line: Yes 200 000 $. Police calculate it on persons year income. I don't know but this man might just have hit the jackpot on the stock market last year or something like that and police write the fine based on what it says on computer (or on the phone like they do in here)

Is that much more than you have in there??

I talked to one of my students, since he recently got his driver's liscence. It cost him $8.00! He waited until age 18, so he didn't have to take a class.
Private classes for 15 year olds cost around $300.00 in my area, but some public schools offer them for free.

Welcome to the world of socialism.
To each according to their needs, to each according to their abilities or something like that[:'(]
I had a similar speeding ticket 10 years ago, was coasting down from 55 to a 25 zone -I'm guessing that's similar to 70kmh and 40 kmh. I got what roughly amounted to a $140 speeding ticket for doing 25mph over the speed limit.

The man in your example got a royal shafting, I'm beyond words on how angry I would be if I were him. I guess that's what you have to expect when the will of the sheeple dictate how much property you can own versus how much that will be confiscated.

Finland... well there is your answer.

I believe in Denmark, Sweden and Finland, traffic fines are based not on the offence but on your income.

Welcome to a socialism. I read a few years back of a guy in Sweden who was given a fine of over $100,000 -- thats U.S. Currency amount
