I am fairly uneducated i guess you could say when it comes to politics, but i want to know i am 14 years old and i have read some of this stuff about liberals taking our guns. i love to hunt and yes i did buy my rifel and shotgun with my own money that i made cutting tobacco. i dont want people taking my stuff that i paid for! and dont think im stupid for asking this because i seriously dont know! what are some of the main differences in democrat and republican i would ask my parents but i dont feel like getting a 30 minute lesson on it and our teachers dont tell us.. so i ask you all. i do know that democrats are for abortion and republicans are not but thats it. seth07, that is a difficult question because a lot of it is opinion.
It all depends on what points or parts of the two parties you look at.

I see the Demmies as the party that wants bigger government, more control of your life and your rights. In turn they promise to take care of you. Socialism is another way of looking at it. You work, give most of your money to the state or feds and they provide what they think you need to the degree that they think you need it. No one should starve, everyone will have some type of housing and we'll all use public transportation.
They also believe that 60's saying.. if it feels good do it. I don't see that as good advise for the long run.

I see the Republicans as for smaller government with "your on your own here" sink or swim. If you work hard keep as much of your money as you can and if you don't want to work, fine starve. You want to go to college, study in school, get good grades and pay your own way. If you get money from the government it's a loan and you have to pay it back. Yes the Republican are supported by big business but who is big business? They are the people who provide jobs, expand the economy and create more jobs. They make money doing this but to me that's what hard work is all about. Republican say...Don't make excuses, lead follow or get out of the way I like that type of thinking.

But see, this is how I see it. It's just my opinion but Im 55 years old, fought in a war and was a copper for over 30+ years. Im also a bit of a hard a$$ and had to make it on my own most of my life. Worked since I was 11 years old, starting on farms and cutting wood so I could buy my guns and bows. But opinins are like butt holes, every one has one and they're all different. But the thing is, mine don't stink

Well since I am in the military, don't expect any handouts, own guns, hunt, oppose gay marriage, am against affirmative action, think abortion is wrong and think a person should work for a living I guess I am a Republican.

No matter what they think about anything else, the Demacrats as a party are much worse at gun grabbing than the Rebublicans. There is no way around that one point. Therefore I would rot in Hell before I voted for a Dem.

Logs has said it pretty well! There are some dems and republicans that don't strictly follow party lines, but thats the exception to the rule. Usually when push come to shove, they will cave in and vote the way their party says to vote!
I also hear what Frizz is saying, I too hold all of those same views! Up until a few years ago, I thought I could hold those views and be a Democrat too! I was wrong! Your either for 'em or against 'em, so I guess I'm a Republican too!

apply for a job. He then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave

Well I am a Democrat,albiet not a liberal, Democrat has always been the party of the working man . Democrats are not in favor of abortion, Democrats are in favor of the woman making her own choice. I am in favor of people being helped by the Gov;t. when they need it. I live in a state where Republicans are the extremely wealthy and wouldn't give the sweat off their $$$$s. The only way I am going to give up my guns is when they pry them off my cold dead fingers. This administration is getting us further and further in the national debt, we cannot stand 4 more years of GW. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it....

The Democrats are always b!tching about the deficit. We've had a deficit forever. It may be higher now but that's because GW inheritted a recession from Slick Willy and then had to deal with 9/11. Considering those two facts, I think GW did pretty well. Anyway, if the deficit was more or less than it is right now, it wouldn't change the bottom line on anyone's pay checks. Also, I don't see how a hard worker could be a Democrat. How can you work your butt off so you can pay taxes while the lazy-a$$ collects welfare checks?
