Is it enough to beat Bush?
His daddy was done in with the "It's the economy, stupid" idea that Clinton and his idiot sidekick Carville promoted....now the economy is looking good so the Dems are harping on the WMDs...will Bush prevail?
I don't think so. I think the only reason Clinton was ever elected was because the Dems got Ross Perot (sp?) on an independent ticket. i don't have any proof, but it makes sense to me. They got a guy that was just conservative enough to steal away some Republican votes and allow old slick willie to get into the back door of the WH. How the SOB ever got re-elected, still amazes me. If folks will take time to look at what GWB has done with the immense load he's had to carry, I don't think the majority will trust a Democrap to handle the burden, WMD's or not. JMHO

RE: It's the WMDs, stupid....
I personally dont think the war in Iraq is going to be the pivotal issue. I
think the fiscal irresponsibility is going to get him. He is throwing money
around like an ingrate who just inherited billions.

I think Bush had better take his competition seriously until the last vote is counted . Winning the first Gulf War didn't get Bush , Sr. reelected , and if I remember correctly he mainly lost because of the economy at that time . Why else would the American public have elected a dumocrat ?

I don't think the WMD issue is enough to beat Bush, but I think the economy might be. Bush keeps saying that things are good in hopes that eventually everyone will believe him, but the fact of the matter is, things aren't nearly as good as he makes them out to be. Yes, things are getting better, but it's happening very slowly, and new jobs are few and far between.
I think Bush's biggest problem, which burnie eluded to, is a fractured base. Bush talks like a good conservative but he doesn't walk the walk, and I think there are a lot of conservatives out there right now that don't support him. If he stops trying to straddle the fence so much and stops spending money like a new lottery winner he might just have a shot.
i personally could care less about what we did in Iraq, wmd's or not; needed to be done; it will not cost bush re-election.
what may cost him his second term are blue collar voters; there are companies closing down operations and moving south of the border or across sees left and right, i can think of few differnt companies in central illinois. i think bush lacks the down to earth relationship with most of american workers. kerry is already starting to campaign directly to these people.
