Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Is Florida guilty?

This just pisses me off. Is the state of Florida guilty for the death of 11 year old Carlie Brucia when Joseph P. Smith a 13 time offender of numerous arrest is set free to stalk and victimize people again and again when will the States realize that some people are not fit to be in society and the public. This man has been arrested for charges of drugs possession, kidnapping and false imprisonment charges, when is enough going to be enough, and now apparently murder. Why does it always take something so tragic as the killing of a child to finally put someone away for good. I would hope that Mr. Smith gets his just cause this time before he is released and strikes again. It is sad that we live in a era when a child can not walk home from a friends house after a sleep over without being attacked by a person who should have never been on the streets any how. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I wouldn't say that Flordia is guilty, but the whole thing sure is sad.

What about the 3 strikes program, is that only in some states or something?

I don't think that the state of Florida is guilty as much as the "state" of society is to blame.

With the current philosophy regarding prisoners and prison sentences, this could have happened in any state, and probably does. It's just Florida's turn in the spotlight for this particular incedent.

The news is full of incedents where a person is shot, robbed, raped, kidnapped etc. by a person who "Should" have already been in jail at the time, but was released early or plea bargained out of a sentence.

The folks that let them OUT should be held as much accountable as the person who committed the crime.

I don't think that Florida is directly guilty. Sadly it would have happened in most any other state too! The whole system is guilty! There is no way anyone with his record should still be on the street! Thus little Carlie should still be alive today!

That question has been asked here in Florida. From what I heard, the 13 charges where not of a serious nature to keep him in jail. Will keep you posted if I hear more.Him being caught on tape,I think it will be a short trial! Can we bring back public hanging?!?[:@]

I was hasty when I posted this I don't blame Florida but I definitely blame the system no matter what state this could have happened in. I agree with public hanging for this guy....
