Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default crying wolf to many times

I just happen to be here reading and replying to some posts, listening to the weather channel on tv. I had the urge to go to the john and while going hear this beep, beep, beep, on tv. We all know the sound. After 9-11 I thought about stopping what I was doing and finding out what this important message was but said the heck with it, though some what concerned. The next thing I hear was , if this had been a real emergency in northern N.J. you would have blah, blah blah. This system was proven beyond any doubt, in any ones mind that it just doesn't work. It wasn't working the day we needed it and now is being ignored, at least by me. And I think is one of the greatest scams in U S history. We only had call to use it once and didn't. I just hope it is not the American tax dollars paying for this, and that whoever is lining their pockets with the money can't swim and falls in above their head and yells wolf for the last time. Thanks guys for letting me vent as there is not to much that irks me but this is one of them. Maye cause I (we) were brought up to rely and trust in this for at least 40 + years.

Good point Jersyhunter - i imagine WE pay for it- it is a public service?
But now seems more like so much background noise. ( in the early 60,s it seeemed more real)
Far as i know they didnt use it on 9/11- not sure why... because of all the live media coverage?

Talk about crying wolf! One of the local radio stations around here plays that sound several times a day. I assume it is to attract more attention to the add that follows. They more than likely charge company XYZ an extra charge for the "Service"!

First of all, you can stop? Not me man...too dangerous.

I guess I never thought about it, but you're probably right. It's like those stupid car alarms. No one pays any attention to them because they go off all the time.
