Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Iraq Minister Says Saddam's WMD Carefully Hidden

SOFIA (Reuters) - Iraq (news - web sites)'s foreign minister said on Thursday weapons of mass destruction acquired by the country's former rulers, which inspectors have failed to find, had been carefully hidden and he was confident they could be found.

"I have every belief that some of these weapons could be found as we move forward," Hoshiyar Zebari told a news conference in Sofia. "They have been hidden in certain areas. The system of hiding was very sophisticated."

The United States and Britain cited Iraq's alleged possession of chemical and biological arms as their main reason for invading Iraq last March and toppling Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Baathist government.

But no such weapons have so far come to light despite intensive searches. Former chief U.S. weapons hunter David Kay said Wednesday that "we were almost all wrong" about the issue and it was "highly unlikely that there were large stockpiles of deployed militarised chemical and biological weapons" in Iraq.

But Zebari, on a visit to Bulgaria, said: "We as Iraqis have seen Saddam Hussein develop, manufacture and use these weapons of mass destruction against us. He hasn't denied that."

Zebari, a Kurd, was apparently referring to the use of chemical weapons by Saddam's forces against Iraqi Kurdish villages in the late 1980s.

U.N. teams were sent into Iraq after the first Gulf War (news - web sites) in 1991 to scrap Baghdad's weapons of mass destruction. Experts are divided on whether or not all the weapons were destroyed at that time.

What do you think? Is this guy just trying to mess with us, or are they really there?

You'd really hate it if Bush were vindicated, regardless of timing, wouldn't you Charlie?

Nope, If they found them today, I'd be the first to come on here and say I was wrong.

If it happens at just the right time, I'd might be inclined to look for the painted over the "property of the USA " stickers.

I do think Hussein needed to be taken out. I don't agree with changeing the reasons you did it to suit your purpose,ok.

In some peoples eyes, Bush is just wrong.

It will be OK, you will be rid of him in 2008.

Cool Charlie. I can respect an answer like that indeed!

Who is it now, Hip and FNG, they are hardcore anti-Bush, and probably wouldn't see it that way though.

First let me say that the WMD's are/were in Iraq. I also feel that it was one of the valid reasons for going in.

Now the timing of actually finding them....... well let me put it this way, if they were found just before the election it would surprise me no more than Nixon bringing the troops home from Nam just before the elections.

Politicians are politicians!

Can't we give Bush a little more credit than that????...Surely he'd be smart enough to sand blast off the old markings!!

Almost everyone in this world knows that Iraq had WMD's. Iraq has proven it with the use of WMD's.
The only viable question I see is WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
That is what we should be working on. Not listening to someone cover his butt by saying they didn't have them because he couldn't find them.
You know the Saddem didn't distroy anything that others wanted him to.
I hope they find them over there before they make it through one of our sea ports that has poor security. Which is all of them. Some worse than others.
