Hi Dave590,
When we bought our home in Alaska...the yard was an assortment of grass, gravel, weeds, and much of it was "wooded". When we moved in snow was on the ground. That first spring my wife took one look at the yard and asked, "Honey, are we going to plant grass seed"?
I looked at her in disbelief...and replied, "H**l no! If I wanted to cut grass every weekend....I would have stayed in Pennsylvania. I didn't move to Alaska to mow the yard."
We did not plant grass seed

. I got out the weed whacker once a month or so and kept the "yard" portion of the property.....looking like a "proper Alaskan yard".....the rest of the weeds were killed off each winter. God I miss Alaska!
