Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Do you agree with this quote?

I got this quote off of someone's signature............

I thought it was good. Just wondered what all of you thought.........

"A vote is like a rifle. It's usefulness depends upon the character of the user"
T. Roosevelt

Agree or Disagree & why?

I disagree.....for if I lose my rifle, I'll also lose my vote.....but the converse isn't true.

Very true.
One can waste a vote just as a poorly chosen or placed shot. Further, once the trigger or voting booth lever pulled or ballot cast neither can be retrieved. Much clear thought needs to be given to both acts.

Vapodog, Go back and read it again. It has nothing to do with the usefulness of either but of the "character of the user" A low down miserable skunk in either case can cause untold grief to the rest of us.

If you're voting in Florida, it's like you're shooting a Carcano with a bent barrel and 100 year old ammo.

Consider the person and the time in history, Roosevelt, when character meant something. Ethics, honesty, skilled abilities etc.
Charactor goes not only to the individual such as a gift but but is the result of their preparation through up bringing, education, work, thier actions taken under a given set of circumstances and the appropriate application of the accumulative. It is not just the final step but the path to that point regardless of the outcome. Usefulness and results are not one and the same.
That was the problem with the clinton years, lack of charactor.

This is very true. If you do not use your vote, what's the use of having the right? If you do not use your rifle, what's the use in having it? The usefulness of both depend upon the character of the user. Choose not to use either one and the usefulness of having them is gone.

I agree. Whats the point of being able to vote when you could care less who is in the whitehouse. Use your voting rights wisely!
