Default Deputy shoots, kills SUSPECT

ORLANDO, Fla. -- An Orange County sheriff's deputy sheriff shot and killed a motorist whom deputies believed was a murder suspect, according to Local 6 News.

A fugitive unit with the Orange County Sheriff's Office received a tip Thursday that a murder suspect may show up at a hotel in Orlando.

When a car driven by Marvin Williams, 26, approached in the area, deputies attempted to approach the vehicle, Williams fled, according to Local 6 News.

The sheriff's office said Williams stopped his car at the corner of Kaley Street near Parramore Avenue and ran from deputies.

During a chase, the man reportedly attempted to break into an elderly woman's home. Then, he allegedly reached for something in his pants and was shot. He later died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Local 6 News reported that Williams was not the man wanted in the murder case and that he apparently ran from deputies because he had a suspended driver's license.

What an idiot. This guy would've been slapped on the wrist, instead he is dead. You ought to have more sense than that. Can't fault the officers, they did what they had to do in that situation.

The officer felt a person's life as well as his own life was threatened and i agree with his actions. Based on the fact my dad was in law enforcment for 33 years.

Reading stuff like this and seeing COPS and other TV shows it baffles my mind why any one with one single IQ point would run from the police. Especially for something as minor as a suspended license. If you are that stupid then I am glad that you are no longer wasting my oxygen.

Good for the cops. That's just one less total moron out there roaming the streets.

After reading the initial facts, the image of the fugitive being black immediately comes into my mind. Now, let me ask you this. What if this guy was your son? Would you still feel the same way about the actions of the police? And YEP! They did everything according to the book and that officer should be completely exonerated.

Where in any of that do you get that the suspect was black?

Like stuckinthereeds, I don't know where you're getting the impression this guy is black.?
As far as your question, if this had been my son, and he had bailed from his car, taken off running from the police, attempted to break into an elderly woman's home, and when the police were within sight he started reaching into his pockets, at which point he was shot by an officer and killed, I would be heartbroken. Both because my son was dead, and because he had made such stupid choices that he forced an officer to make a life and death decision that cost him his own.
And that is the honest-to-God truth.

Good question! Its just the first image that came to my mind. Amazing how we rationalize or justify an event . Maybe I've watched 'Cops' too often.

Does this qualify for the Darwin awards (i think thats what there called?). Anyway it amazes me what some people will do to avoid a little slap on the wrist. Ive watched the polices crazy chase shows and cops and it just amazes me. Had it been my child i would be heartbroken, but at the same time i would know it was my childs fault for his/her reckless actions.
