Default Another mountain lion attack

Well I see in today's news (1/9/04) another mountain lion attack that killed a cyclist in California. Wonder if this will change any minds on the hunting ban on mountain lions in that state. See attached link for story:

Our idiotic state won't let hunters hunt lions yet the state now pays houndsmen to hunt rogue lions who attack people. Sheer lunacy. We used to allow hunters to pay for a license and mountain lion attacks were extremely rare. lions were afraid of people cause we shot at them. The liberal and ignorant voters in this state took away a source of income for the state, created a public danger and now cost us more money for their mistake.[:@][:@]

It amazes me that there have been no lawsuits filed on this. I mean, the State of California has mismanaged the natutral resources and have made biking and hiking trails unsafe for people. The laws that the States passed has led to loss of life. In other words, the Laws passed has directly led to a less safe enviroment for people - and who is responsible for that ? CA is.

If McDonalds is responsible for hot coffee being hot, CA is responsible for Mtn lion attacks.

That's the supreme rub here stealthy. This was a ballot measure that was put on the ballot and passed by citizens, not the legislature. Our DFG actually opposed the measure and said it was unsafe and bad environmental management of a predator and a liberal majority in this state (the bay area and LA) voted the stupid measure into law. Even more interesting is that when the citizens vote in a measure to stop illegal immigrants from using free services, it gets overruled by a judge. Yet when citizens vote in a stupid law that arguably has resulted in avoidable deaths of innocent human beings, the judges don't say a single thing.

Predicted it years ago and same in Oregon. Need a few more bikers, joggers and kids to get eaten and thePETA jerks won't be lookin so good to the masses. They blame the lions but keep building homes, parks and joggin paths right in their habitat and stop all killing of those cute kittys. Keep eating.

I want to point out something here in this article ...

Quote:
He and other bikers threw rocks in an attempt to scare off the animal. A man who was at the scene shortly after the attack said he frequents the trails in the area and has often seen mountain lions, but described this one as being "out for blood."
Quote:
A second mountain lion in the area was struck by a car and killed. Authorities said tests would also be performed on that animal.

Quote:
The mountain lion is reclusive that typically doesn't want to be seen by humans. Capt. Steve Miller with the Orange County Fire Department said authorities were puzzled about what prompted this one to attack.

"Whenever you're in an area that has deer in the area, you are undoubtedly in mountain lion habitat," Miller said. But he added, "It's still extremely rare to have a lion that identifies a human being as an item on their menu."

Animal expert Jack Hanna told CNN he could only theorize that the lion may have been injured, prompting it to change its usual behavior. Whatever the reason, he said, the attack was an extremely rare event.

Mountain lions "are very elusive," Hanna said. "They don't want to see you any more than you want to see them."

Okay now, you got a guy saying he sees them quite often, one dead body and one gal in the hospital, one dead on the highway the same day yet "authorities" say how rare they are ?

What am I missing here ?
