Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

What I do find interesting, in a "screwed up american" sense is that when 'ol Brett was doing his "vitamin V" (vicadin) all was forgiven. When rush was doing his vitamin "O" (oxycontin) it was a big deal.

Not that I like either one, but it is a very interesting commentary on the crap heads in the U.S.

"Bread and Circuses".

Tonight we had a report about the Firemen's Auxilliary having a spaghetti dinner, and there was a thing about the meeting of the local 4H club.

If Brett were a conservative radio talk show host that constantly irritated the other side with hard hitting jabs that hit home, he would be toast.

Fortunately, Brett is merely one of the best QBs in the games history.

(BTW- all our local stations seem to cover is apologies about how the weather is going to screw up everybody's weekend and why the 'Horns don't live up to expectations. I rarely watch the local news anymore...FoxNews and the net pretty much keep me informed)

The biggest thing going on in our local paper the past two or three weeks is a feud between one of the local farmers and some citified flat-lander that moved into the area. The farmer had a steer in a rather small enclosure getting it fattened up for slaughter, the flat-lander thought the critter should have more shelter than had been provided and was carrying on a program of insult and harrassment via signs on local fences, letters in the mailbox etc. To make a long story short, the farmer got tired of the whole thing and the steer ended up at the slaughter house a bit earlier than originally planned.
Beyond that the inside of the front page usually contains the police report which details who got caught for what over the past week and a report of what the fire dept and rescue squad was involved with.
The op-ed page is usually dedicated to local politics although some commentary on national doings occaisionally get in there as well. The letters to the editor take up the bulk of the paper and run the gamut of anything from school and church events to some rather well written arguments on both sides of national and international politics.
A separate sports section covers the local high school teams and the hunting and fishing conditions. All in all, not a bad little paper.

You guys seem to have better boob tubes than I do. I can't stand watching "local news" anymore. It makes me want to vomit.

There ain't no news at all, it's all so mind numbing -- but given my job and the local news I think i've lost about 100 I.Q. points so I may actually start getting into it...
