True story:

On Dec 19th, 2003 a high-school junior asks the school Athletic Director to use the phone so that she may call her mother. The girl needed something from home.

When she attempted to use the phone the 60 year old Athletic Director grabbed her buttocks. Another student who was walking by the office saw what happened.

The girl states that she has suffered severe emotional distrees, including depression and panic attacks.

The athletic director, a teacher for 39 years, was charged with 2 misdeameanors.

What do you think his sentence should have been?

I will give my opinion later and tell you what his actual sentence was.

While I have an issue with the depression and panic attack claim, IMO the director should be severely disciplined. Possibly terminated.

A very STUPID thing to do. With 39 years on the job, he should know way better than to pull such a bonehead move.

Back to the depression and panic issue......again, IMO this is a result of our sue happy society. While the action of the teacher was way out of line, simply having your butt grabbed/pinched/whatever should not cause a mental trauma.

Big, understand that he did lose his license to teach. But that was not part of the criminal charges (misdemeanr charges).

I would like to know what you think his sentence should be.

I had some sort of attack at reading this... and I am suffering emotional distress.

I think we should all sue VC for emotional if not physical duress and possibly "internet sexual advances". ....

What the hell sort of assault took place? If you neuvo-lawyer types want to get stupid, just putting your hand on someones shoulders is considered 3rd degree sexual assault.

Not being very astute in the arena of criminal charges,(guess that is a good thing) I would hope his punishment was on the light side.

What he did was way wrong, but he lost his job already.

I will guess.....36 monthes probation.

The teacher IMO should receive (if this is his first offense) 2 years probation and 60 hours community service.

Call me insensitive, but I think just about any teenage girl is going to suffer from stress, depression, panic disorder, or some other emotional disturbance. I'm not saying that all girls are crazy, but adolescence is a rough time for almost everyone.

On the other hand, the "athletic director" is clearly a pig and a criminal. I say three months in the county jail for sexual assault and another year probation on top of it all. I'm sure he'll find plenty of willing groping partners during his stay in jail.

I know you better than that. If you had a 17 yr old dtr and some 60 year old educator groped her, in school no less, you would have been incarcerated for assault...(Half of this board would be cheering for you and the other half would be fronting the bail.)
