Default Cool indoor shooting range...........

I wouldn't mind have one of these in my town. i think that a couple dozen of these scattered across the country would draw more people to outdoor sports.

That sounds like a lot of fun and I agree that it would draw more people to our sport.

You guys need to get to the range more often. There have been a few diferent versions of the "virtual" archery range in pro shops for a good number of years now. Many of them, the shop worker can program any number of animals from cape buffalo to the whitetail deer and anything in between or give you a variety of animals to "hunt" while you are at the range. Also many pro shops will have a tournament of sorts where you pay an entrance fee and the shooter that has the highest overall score at the end of the time alloted (like an entire summer) will win an outfitted bow or something along those lines.

I agree these "virtual" arvhery ranges are great practice. Only draw back is that all of the animals are 20 yards away no matter how far away they may look.

My local range has one and I agree that they are pricey. Clever, but overpriced.

I was first exposed to the DART systems while in Law Enf. We trianed on one and it was very realistic and a great trianing aid. A lot of "shoot-don't shoot " situations that forced you to think quickly. They'd have the same scenario just modified enough to fool you from one time to the next. It also made trianing a lot more fun that punching holes in the silhouettes. The thing was if you did not get a neutralizing hit the bad guy just kept going or shooting back. Of course that never happened to me.
Several of the local ranges have them for archery. They are not as sophisicated as the LE ones but then agian the average range does not have the same buget as a municipality.
I think the going rate here is about 10 bucks for a twenty target shoot and there is a time limit on them. The problem is everything is either 15 or 20 yards away regarless to the image. Fun but not a great practice aid for hunting at different ranges.

ffyg, those have been out for ten years now. They are everywhere.

Heck, our local army/navy store has one for handguns. It is a blast. We get groups of guys from work and go do the street crime video with handguns. I love it. The guys from work rent 7 shot sigs. I take my Sig 228 with two hicaps.

I always get the majority of the bad guys.

Bet they promote violence aginst animals & give hunting& hunters a bad name.?
But i will have to ask zelious cat.

They have no indoor ranges here- unless you call shooting out of log wall ports into the outdoors a indoor range lol.
No circling band of wagontrains.

But we do have antalopes etc walking on our outdoor range sometimes- ussally at the 300+ yard line.
