Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Bush or a Democrat?

A few of you guys don't like Bush, primarily because he is not conservative (enough). But I ask you, would you prefer it if Gore had won? Would you prefer Howard Dean next time around? How about Hillary in 2008?

Now I know what you're thinking, "I would prefer none of the above. Give me Buchanan, or a REAL conservative!"

Face it. You're not getting a guy like that! Not in the near future anyway. There has to be a major shift in public thinking first. In the mean time, a president like Bush, who highjacks liberal ideas, like health care, and turns it around on them, like introducing provisions to integrate privatization, is someone who should be supported.

Now you certainly have the right to back a true conservative in a "third party." But you will do to the Republicans what Nader has done to the Democrats. We've got the Dem's on the ropes right now. One of the things that is killing them is their shift to the far left. Radical ideas alienate the general public. If we shift to the far right, what will happen to any hope of bringing conservatism to the forefront of public thinking?

I say, beat the liberals politically, then begin the shift to the right. Make America confortable with gentle conservatism, win them over, and then look for real conservative ideas to take hold.

Just my 2 cents. I look forward to hearing from you all.

You are right on the money. If nothing else the Republicans are a country mile better than the Dems, this for even just the issue of gun ownership alone. To me this is the most basic of rights and the one the Dems would most like to abolish. Bush is not conservative enough thats for sure but my God compare him to what else is available and its plain to see theres no alternatives at this time. Lets at least hold on to the gains we have made while we try to improve the situation for the long run. Very good post.

There are somethings I don't agree with that Bush has done, but he is far ahead of anything we had or have to choose from that stood a chance of winning, I hope we see Bush get a little more conservative his 2nd term.

The Dummycraps will nominate Dean. It is the end of the Klintun dominance of the Dem. Party! Dean is going to drag the party back so far left, he'll have no chance at being elected Pres! If he DOES get in, he'll be the incumbent in 2008, thus no Hillary candidacy that year! That's what the Clinton faction is afear'd of!! That's why the Clintons crapped when Gore endorsed Dean!!

Of ALL them DEMS, I think DEAN is more friendly to the 2nd Amendment than any of the rest!

so what you're saying is that you agree and the two (Bush and someone like Gore are not that different).

Hey, I'm assuming that you've heard he is finalizing the legislation to allow illegals to "legally" work here in the U.S.

You people are sissies if you fall for this crap.

I agree with you etothepii (what does your name mean). It's easy to criticize from the sidelines and much harder to compete yourself. To answer your question, there's no choice. It's Bush all the way. Bush may not have accomplished all I want him to but he has a much better chance of doing that in a 2nd term. Howard Dean would not accomplish anything I want so he isn't a choice. Hillary and Gore are even worse than Dean.

Ahh, that is a very very bad challenge.

I would put my credentials up against Bush, Gore, Lieberman etc. any day.

MOST politicians are like the hollyweird elite and belong to the "lucky sperm club".
