I finally saw this movie last night and was impressed. It was actually a good movie with a lot of info I had not known. Looking at the scenes where they were operating on Reagan and how he acted after he was shot, I am even more impressed with how tough and dignified he was. God Bless Ronald Reagan!![8D]

Coastie, when and where did you meet Mr. Ronald Reagan?

To my eternal regret I have never had the privelege of meeting Mr. Reagan. The closest I ever came to him was during Op-Sail 1986 when I was part of the security net around Governors Island on the 3rd of July and then on patrol off Battery park when he came down river on the U.S.S. Iowa on the 4th.
I believe Mr. Will Rogers would have agreed in my assesment that Mr. Reagan is a man in the sense that Mr. Rogers intended when he made the statement.
CalHunter, I did not see the movie, But I remember when he was shot.
I also remember his one liners making the news. The "I forgot to duck" line made for great press. I seem to recall he had a few other good quotes that day also. I don't remember them line for line but the essence was..."Damn, that hurt,,,How are my men" and "Tell the country I'm alright".
I had the honor of calling him my commander in chief for eight years.
I hate to make comparisons from one president to another because the political "times" vary as the world turns. But he was, in my book anyway, the greatest president of all time.
I will admit though, Dubya's lead in WW III is closing the gap.[8D]
I have an interesting Reagan story. My uncle was a colonel in the Air Force. He was the C.O. of a base in Oklahoma, when one day, he received word that Air Force One had to be diverted to his base. He needed to entertain the president for a few hours!
My aunt put on a "tea," and the four of them just talked for about 2 hours. Ron and Nancy left, and my aunt and uncle thought it went quite well. It must have, because less then six months later, my uncle was told that he was being promoted to general, and there was an office at the Pentagon Waiting for him!!!
I haven't seen the movie, but have to agree Ronald Reagan was one of the greatest presidents this country has ever had or ever will. Had it not been for pres Reagan, where would we have been during the Gulf War? or now? I had the unpleasant duty to serve 5 years under a spineless draft dodger that wanted to be known as Commander in Chief. I'm proud of the term I served in the Marine Corps, I just wish it hadn't been during a time clinton was in office. The whole thing that concerns me is how clinton could be voted as one of the most popular presidents ever by the people. Back to the thread........ Ronald Reagan did more for this country than most people know. For the nay sayers, sure he had his faults, but never could anyone confuse his LEADERSHIP of this country as being non-patriotic, nor did he operate without the best interest of America and Americans being foremost in his heart and mind.

Ronald Reagan has been my choice for "Greatest President" ever since he was in office. He was a great man and did some tremendous things for this country despite the revisionist's attempts to rewrite history. I also hold the current President Bush in high regard and feel that he may be a close 2nd or better after his 2nd term.
