Had 4 neighbors over tonight, didn't know they were coming. the request --- run for office.

I just might do it.

My father was mayor once. He said that if he ever discussed running for office again, he wanted me to hit him over the head with a ball bat so hard that he wouldn't wake up till after the election was over.

I would recommend a Louisville Slugger.

They had a few towns for sale/ waltham i think& trona? one was 2 houses& a store.

I came about this close (holding two fingers REAAAALLLL close together) to running for a spot on the board of supervisers this last november.

I am quite confident that I would have made a good showing.

But after much deliberation with myself, I decided that "politics" in the general sense was one thing...."Politics" in the sense of actually making a change was a whole 'nother animal.

It takes a full time commitment to get involved in the political spectrum...Not just a whim over a few beers...I decided that I was not in the position to dedicate all of my time to a cause for others, when I still have things that I would like to accomplish for myself.

You may call my decision self-serving...But it is what it is.

If you decide to take the plunge...Don't do it because you think your ideas are better than the next guys...Do it because you are willing to go out and spend the time EXPLAINING and INSTITUTING why your ideas are better.

It's a full time thing.

Think long and hard before going forth on this venture, you might fool around and get what you wish for.

Good luck. How big a town is Schnoidsville?

I had some locals approach me once about running for mayor. I remember telling them no because if the election were held and I got 90% of the vote, I'd wonder just what in the hell I did to those other 10%. I wouldn't make a good politician.
