We have a lot of smart people on this board and I'm sure someone has the precise answer.

Good question though. I always thought that because the ML's were single shot and lacked any real serious range compared to other rifles they weren't considered as serious.

Muzzleloaders aren't regulated under federal law.

Part of it is down to shipping regulations. You can only ship a regulated firearm to an FFL (gun dealer).

It might be legal to sell a regular gun online but the vendor would have to ship it to a FFL who would then do the background check before they handed it over to the buyer. Not worth the hassle is it??

I think yer right turtle ml arent firearms by federal law, just local ones someplace/ laws restrict them.

Any/ well most lol // rifles etc made before 1898? are considered relics & no ffl to maybe.

wouldnt mind a 45/70gatlingun.

They have some very odd laws too on the books.

In Ohio, and I assume everywhere, if your at a store, you can walk out with a muzzleloader in minutes. Other fire arms require the waiting period.

The Antique weapons act of (Damn I forget the date) exempted firearms manufactured prior to 1898 and weapons that are muzzleloading and using black powder from BATF controls and regulations.

Yes. It is because even the farthest left-leaning would-be dictator/tyrant can't seem to convince even the stupidest the people that there's any risk of a crime or terrorism being committed with a single-shot, muzzle-loading black-powder weapon!!
