Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Nobody to vote for in 2004...

I voted for and strongly supported Bush in the 2000 election because I thought that he not only the better man than Gore (which he still is), but that he was also someone who stood for what I believed in. But lately it seems that he's sold out his constituancy to pander for votes. His policy on immigration is worse than most democrats, he's spending a thousand truckloads of money on programs that shouldn't exist. He's expanded the size and scope of the federal government more than the previous two presidents combined (Dept. of Homeland Security, Patriot Act) in the name of "safety" (see my signature line for how I feel about that).

Not that I can say that the herd of jackasses the Democraps have running for president are any better. I wouldn't vote for one of them under threat of death.

I just don't think that I could, with a good conscience, vote for ANYONE in either of the two parties. Bush was doing great IMO during the first half of his term, and he is a great leader, but I just don't know if I want to follow him where he's going now.

Well, for all intents and purposes I am a Libertarian...

The major problem with voting libertarian is that it seems pretty pointless in the end. The sheep in this country are so strongly polarized to the usual two-party system that they are blind to the other alternatives.

I think we can now plainly see what the Republicans are.....it's time we vote our minds.....there's no such thing as a wasted vote.....we might as well have democrats in office as Republicans....the difference between the two is so little they are almost identical.....

I know how you feel Mike. I think the same thing about the constitutionalist party. Good ideas and a good platform but no chance of winning even in state elections. I think a lot of us are not so happy about some of the things Bush is doing and think they could be done better.

I don't know guy's, when I think about Clinton-Gore -or Hillary in 2008 I get nausous, I don't care what Bush's agenda is, we needed a strong leader and thank GOD we have one, almost everyone in the military that I talk to is glad we have a kick-ass commander-in -chief, is Bush doing everything right , of course not, but if you look at the alternative's he come's out on top. Have you ever wondered why the various alternate parties can't get elected ?their platform's as a whole are idealistic and not workable in todays world(I'm a liberterian but vote for what I think has a chance of succeding) I get so tired of our countrys basher's, we are the greatest country on the planet period, I would rather our country is run by the best business leaders available than a bunch of idealistic yumheads who pander to our emotions and want to turn back the clock ! Most of our fish and game laws are decided by the mass'es in the citie's that don't have a clue about wildlife management, but at least that's something that we as a voting group might be able to influence, as far as the country goe's we don't stand a prayer without solidarity, I just returned from Canada and I spend some time in Mexico, both of those countries citizen's ( not their governments ) would give anything to be more like us, lets count our blessings and enjoy our FREEDOM"S that no other country in the world has. I don't care if the president is repuglican or democrap as long as he understands how to do business and keep us strong, everybody has an agenda, but as long as the good outweighs the bad then I can live with it.

I didn't mean to come off as bashing the U.S.. I absolutely love this country, enough that I did a stint in the Marine Corps defending her. And it certainly is the finest country in the world, bar none. I've been around the world and nowhere compares to what we have here in terms of freedom and prosperity.

My gripe isn't with the country itself, but with the dirty, power hungry politicians we elect to run it. I have a problem with the fact that I am not as free now as my father was at my age. I'm upset that we let our government get bigger and bigger and more powerful right under our noses, and the people do nothing to stop it. People barely even notice. Almost everyone I talk to has no clue, and really doesn't care, that probably 90% of our federal government today is unconstitutional by the strictest interpretation of the Constitution as the founders meant it to be. The last time our taxes were half as high as they are now we started an armed insurrection and drove the English back into the Atlantic Ocean.

My problem is that Washington is full of crooked career politicians none of whom would give a second thought to lying, cheating, stealing or backstabbing their way into more power and wealth, not decent statesmen we can trust to represent us honestly and diligently as they were elected to do.

I'm also not trying to say that Bush is worse than the Gore, Sillary, or the herd of jackasses running for president now. But the problem is that he is only marginally better, just the lesser of all the evils running in the two main parties. But I can't ignore the fact that he's done a lot of thing since he's been in office that run completely contrary to the GOP's supposedly conservative platform (campaign finance reform, perscription drug coverage and expanded Medicare), grown government tremendously (homeland defense), and pushed and signed legislation that could be used to severely restrict our rights and liberties (USAPatriot Act).

I'm not saying he's worse than the liberals, but he's just not much better anymore either.

What's also really sad about this country's voters today is that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Paine would be lucky to get elected to a city council in the political climate of today.

Driftrider,

I feel you're being harsh dumping all the blame on GW for things like the Patriot act or welfare expansion. It passes thru' two houses before it gets to his desk for signature.

Regards minor parties I favor the Mass income tax ballot abolition approach, which the Libertarians came close to winning.

I hate to admit it but, as of now I will not be voting in 04. Not for Bush or any of the Democrats.
