Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

She couldn't understand why it's okay to exclude Christmas when her daughter still sang Hanukkah tunes that included lyrics about the "mighty miracle" of Israel's ancient days. In that song, there were at least six mentions of the Jewish holiday.
Back when my five oldest kids were in grade school, I noticed this trend beginning. The school calendar said "Winter Holiday" instead of Christmas Vacation, and the kids started learning about Hannakuh and bringing home papers about the mennorah (sp?). I couldn't believe it. I had no problem with my kids learning a little about other beliefs, but I know they didn't spend equal class time discussing Christ's birth.
As far as Christmas programs though, I'm very glad that our kids here still get to sing the songs I sang growing up here. There's nothing so sweet as hearing a class of first graders sing "Away in a Manger".

Im very blessed. I live in a small Christian town. I head a small districts science department. We still pray before games, pep rallies, and have a moment of silence during the day. The front door to my office has the Nativity scene on it. The kids put it up for me.

I live in a college town, so I see this stuff all the time. It is so out of hand, I cannot believe it. I know alot of people who are not even that religious, but are considering going to church just to distance themselves from people like this. I just took my last final this morning, so I am on "Winter Break" currently.
