Default Anybody see the drug bust video in Goose Creek, SC?

This will have to go down as one of the only times I've ever agreed with Jesse Jackson. He is leading the effort to sue the GC Police department for civil rights violations.

Now, I firmly believe that the school and the police department should have every right to conduct a drug search in a school, but this thing was over the top. These idiots are on tape pointing loaded guns at high school students. A couple of them are waving them around like they are toys.

All I can say is if that were my child, I would be furious. The golden rule of guns that my dad drilled into my head was that you ABSOLUTELY never point a gun at someone unless you intend to shoot them. It didn't matter if it was loaded, unloaded, breech open or safety on. The barrel of your gun was never to be pointed near anything you didn't plan to shoot. No exceptions.

The tape has been shown every day on the local channels around here and they have them dead to rights pointing their guns at the students. That was pretty damned stupid of them I think.

They also have shown some of the video of the dog used during the search. All the dog did was look at the K-9 Officer and bark nonstop through the whole thing. When the officer kept pointing to the bookbags, all the dog would do was toss them into the air like he wanted to play fetch with them. I don't think that dog could have found a joint if someone was blowing the smoke at him.

The whole thing was like a circus if you ask me. They're going to be in trouble over this one and I think it is deserved in this case.

Well, you were a juvenile delinquent so you probably needed a gun stuck in your ear every now and then. Just kidding.

Yes i did see that one a few weeks ago i believe.

Its that ol war on drugs & everyone is the enemy i guess - If it was my kids id be very pissed- some of those police need to remember who they are& where there at (America)- they are suppose to protect & serve the ppl.

Im sure some of them feel its them& us situation.( the police vers, everyone else.

Seen some praciting on the range here & others pepper spaying each other to now how it will feel. I dont think theyd like guns pointed in there face much either... they should remember we are not the enemy

Intil theres good reason to do so keep those at your side& ready cowboys.

Have a few times been draw on& had guns pointed at my head as a kid-

But i guess they had good reason i was a nobody from the wrong side of th tracks- so it didnt really matter.

If some are so gung ho & train& practice in asuch away& react in such a manner to - i think they should be over in iraq helpin our troops out , where we know theres plenty of americas enemys. willing to kill us& them.

I don't reckon any of you guys have ever heard of school shootings, punks on the street with guns and cops getting killed by kids!!! We just had 2 more officers killed 3 days ago in the upstate. January a year ago a highway patrolman was killed by some punk during a routine license check less than a mile from the school in question.
'ol Jesse J. and his crowd are playing up the race card and therefore I don't give a crap what he has to say about this matter, he is nothing more than a despicable race baiter and exthortionist.
Now, what the police did was a little extreme. It could have been handled differently. Then again, I wasn't there, don't know all the facts. You'd be kidding yourselves if you think for one minute that every kid in that hallway was some kind of choir boy. Based on what I know about high schools(any school, anywhere) I'll qaurantee you that out of the 100+ kids there was at least 4-5 thugs in the crowd. The cops would have been foolish to not deemed it possible for a threat to exist. All it would have taken was one thug with a 9mm and a high capacity clip ................

i am a retired deputy here in texas. until you know all the particulars we can all only speculate.
i almost laughed at one post where someone said a loaded gun was pointed. are they supposed to unload the guns first?
do any of you have any idea how many guns are found at schools and how many officers are shot by juveniles? i can remember a young man,13, here in texas that was stopped and searched at his school. it was cold weather and he had on a long coat. he had a sawed off shotgun on the inside of his coat and a pistol in the lining of that coat. he was 13. you say that is young. you have no idea.i had a 7 year old boy fire a pistol at me.he had been waving the gun around and threatening people. inner city kids have to grow up quicker and are mature way beyond their age.
i am not versed on how searches go at schools but i did not see a thing that was wrong.i just saw searches being made.does it bother me that no drugs were found. nope! all the kids could not be controlled in the beginning and i imagine there were lots of commodes flushing.

I agree that the whole story needs to be known before one can judge. I
have been teaching for years. About 12 years ago, I was teaching in
Lubbock. I had a seventh grade class that was in a rough part of the town.
I had one student who refused to do any work. I pulled him out into the hall
one day to find out what the deal was. He explained to me that he had to
get kicked out of school before his gang will except him. I gave him the
speech about his life expectancy once he joins a gang. He didn"™t listen one
bit. While we went back into the room, the resource officer along with
other officers came to my room. They were looking for that very young man.
They had found cocaine and weed in his locker. They pulled him in the hall,
frisked him and found a loaded 25 auto in his shoe. I could have been his
last straw.

Rem,
I actually agree with your above post to an extent. It wouldn't have bothered me at all if a few of the officers had their guns out and pointed down the whole time just in case something happened. Some of them did this and I think they did a good job overall, but then there are the others who were waving their guns around and pointing them directly at the kids. That is what they are going to go down for. If you live in Summerville, then you've seen the tapes. That's pretty much indesputable evidence of their wrongdoing.

Police officers have a dangerous job, just like firemen and soldiers. Some of them are going to die in the line of duty. It is very sad when it happens, but that still doesn't give them the right to point a loaded gun at someone who has yet to do anything. These kids were on the floor with their hands on their heads and they still got guns pointed at them. That is not cool.

Police officers need to remember they are in America, not Hitler's Germany. They are civil servants, not the Gestapo.
