Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

My family and myself have never gotten flu shots. We're tough as nails. Eat rocks for breakfast. Seriously though, this year looks like it's liable to be really bad. This is the first year I've actually contemplated getting one. Or at least making my husband get one. He whines his head off when he gets sick. And I've been calling my grandma and bugging the crap out of her because she still hasn't gotten hers yet. I'll probably skip it. I never get sick. I'll probably be one of those people who just drops dead one day for no reason and everyone will say, " She was never sick a day in her life."

I can handle pain very well. I do not do well with colds and flu though. It seems to affect my central nervous system and hits me very hard.

I won't get the shots though for fear that it will have the opposite effect.

Besides, in order to get one, I have to go to a place where there are throngs of people lined up waiting....perfect place to contract the flu.

I just got over a flu or cold or both that made me pretty sick for about a week. Doesn't do me any good to get a shot now. I just saw an article in my paper today about long lines to get flu shots, but the vaccines do not include the strain that is going around right now.

Every year in the US about 36000 people die from the flu. This year those in the know estimate the death toll to be closer to 65000 or 70000.
I got a flu shot this year.
Not brecause I figure if I get the flu I could die, because I figure Im more likely to ge the flu this year if the frequency of others getting it is higher, it is more likely I will be exposed to it.
My wife has gotten one every year as long as I can remember.

The supply in the Milwaukee area is running out. On Wednesday they gave out 4000 flu shots which depleted the local nursing assoc. supply. The City health dept is almost out also.

"Medical walking canes in many forms provide symbolism and support.
There are some guidelines that should be followed when using medical walking canes.
Medical walking canes evolved from many different worlds. Centuries ago the walking stick was a necessary tool for the shepherd and traveler. A nice hefty stick was an excellent way to protect against thieves and to keep animals in line. The walking stick gradually began to be known as a symbol for power and strength, and eventually authority and social prestige. Fashion walking sticks did not become known as "walking canes" until the 1500's when new geographical discoveries brought bamboo, cane, palm, rattan and other grasses into popularity as a walking stick material. "

Absolutely not, our immune system is absolutely outstanding.

all this flu shot hype really has me wondering what the hell has happened with the U.S. and "health concerns".. I know of guys that are in their 30's and built like a brick crap house that whine like little girls if they don't get their flu shot.

Hell, I haven't seen a doctor in 25 years! Not even for broken bones.

I take after my old man, "never see a doctor unless you think you're dying"

(and my father was a doctor)

Logs, those numbers are of the elderly and the immunocompromised.

They very well may have tipped over if given the shot anyway! It is attenuated viruses that cause your immune system to kick into overdrive anyway!
