the anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th 1941, A day that will live in infamy has come and gone yet not a Posting on the board to mention the noted act that sent our country into one of the greatest wars in the history of man.
Sixty two years, how long will it take and no one will remark on the anniversary of 9/11?

I brought up the date December 7 1941 and asked its relevance to me AWANA JV'rs.... they didn't know the significance... When I told them, their reaction was "Boy you're old" - I informed them it was 20 years before my time, but history needs to be known... Dog gone public schools [&o]
I sure remembered, I didn't think to post anything. My bad. The public schools remember all sorts of holidays that are important, such as inservice days, Ceasar Chavez day, etc... [&o] It's a shame that the only holidays they care about are the "politically correct ones," and the ones where their unions declare that they have been working sooo hard and they need a day off. The public schools are in need of an overhaul so bad. 90% of the school boards in the country are run by Democrats, and they have been doing the same things in them for 70 years. It's time to give people, especially Hispanics and African Americans in inner cities, some choice in where they send their kids to school. The voucher program will give these people, who are forced to send their kids to failing schools, CHOICE in where they send their kids to school. Why do the democrats oppose it? Because it takes away from big government socialist schemes that would provide their friends with comfortable, union jobs. At the same time, millions of children are getting atrocious educations simply because the Democrats do not trust them to make good decisions, as parents, about where their children go to school. It's a vicious cycle. And the worst part is that the Demorats have most people thinking that all the public schools need is more money, more government, more union jobs, etc....
End rant.
P.S. God bless and be with those who lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941.
I remembered when I woke up and all day while flying home from Disneyland. I was unable to post anything due to not being near a computer but agree that important events and sacrifices like this are too soon forgotten.

I'll never forget giving my father a fired, empty .50 BMG case that I'd found. He turned it in at an Army Air Base neaby, and told me that it would help some pilot kill one of those "dirty little yellow *** rats". I was very happy to hear that....

I didn't post either. I was gone visiting my kids. I am not apt to forget it as My dad and four uncles were in that scrap. My one uncle got to Pearl Harbor the day after the raid. He spent the whole war there. I have pulled in there several times on aircraft carriers. One morning we pulled in just at dawn. I was on the flight deck and I swear I could here the *** aircraft just over those hills. It was a ghostly expierence that I will never forget. I was an aircraft Mechanic in a bomber squadron.
