Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Year End Musings

I think the political tension in America has the potential to turn violent, not unlike the events of the 60's.

I should be hunting right now, this very moment, but I don't feel like getting dressed. Besides, I've got a great cup of coffee and a compulsion to write a bit.

2003 was much better for my family than the last few years. There is a certain peace in having nothing wrong, nothing happening. Boring times become good times if you know how to appreciate them...that is a concept that cannot be explained to younger people.

There are a number of similiarities between Michael Jackson, Madonna, Dennis Rodman, and Andy Rooney.

Some of the negative things being said about the events surrounding Iraq are true. Americans strive for perfection at times. Other times they pay no attention whatsoever to standards or ideals.

MTV is shock TV.

The thread "Do You Google?" is remarkable and bespeaks the deep animosities that lie just beneath the surface, waiting for just the right catalyst, the right detonator.

Ricoace is one of this board's most gracious people in my opinion.

All of the older member's of this board have gone through a very interesting metamorphosis. The battle's of the past have both hardened and softened them. Example: Johnny and I have become friends. There may be hope for the world after all.

I am Swampmonster.

I tried a pair of Leupold binoculars yesterday. They were impressive.

I think we can all now admit that the airline bailouts were a good thing.

I am not sure which event is uglier, the threat of thermonuclear warfare or the threat of terrorism. Neither of them will ever go away, unless they are superceded by something even uglier.

I am very tired of the way some Americans take pride in apologizing for America's warts. They actually think that other countries are better, that our sins are unforgiveable and that the sins of other nations are lesser somehow. They have the luxury of sitting on the sidelines and criticizing or leaders and our warriors, the keepers of the peace...and they take that luxury for granted. Keeping the peace is like being in nastya$$ fistfight...you will take your lumps and you will make mistakes and you will always be criticized for being involved afterwords regardless of the details or the outcome.

I spoke with accountant recently. The taxes I've paid year-to-date are vulgar.

The Medicare Reform Package that was recently passed is another stepping stone to the collapse of the health care system in America...something that I have been predicting for a long time.

I miss my oldest son.

I need another cup of coffee.

I am not Swampmonster.

Arent ya suppose to wait till after dec 25, to muse?
How can ya predict things with coffee, no tea leaves?
I found swampy to be a let down as a legend, closed minded , unable to see things from other prespectives, other then his personal experences ,opinions,& limited lifes experences etc aperently.

Sorry to hear you miss your son Vc, but i do hope you& yours has some good holidays & yer taxes get better next yr( ours will Be ,with 75% less income lol)
My only son& his family are now in tex , ...just feels better to have them in the USa . Even tho they where suppose to come here for a week or 2 at christmas time. Next time he goes overseas it will be alone ..someplace like korea, or in the field ,in iraq, afgani etc. i wont like that much.It was better when he went to those places a few days or aweek at a time& went back to germany& his family.
Maybe the family will have to move closer to Wy then.

Not to close lol(in my house on a perment bases ) , but not to far is good too.

1eyedfish, I once saw a guy miss the $100 question, "What color does yellow and blue make?" If I was him, I'd have to move out of state and change my name.

Adult children should not move back in with their parents if there is any other option available.

Having a better hunting season than my husband is something that shouldn't be talked about in front of him, no matter how proud he says he is of me.

My mother is old. I'm not sure when that happened, but I noticed it this year.

Sarcasm is a beautiful thing.

I am watchman.

I dont have any particlar Years muses that I can recollect. I can only reflect on how fast another year has come and gone. Thier is absolutely no way that I can be a 39 year old hairline receding aircraft mech living in Houston Texas. Its all one big dream. Tommorow, I will wake up 16 years old, grab my books and rush out my back door to catch the bus. 2004? My head is spinning.

Vc, thankyou for the compliment. I wore it like a badge.

I am not Black.

Looks like way too many people nipping at the scotch early. Some of you guys crack me up. VC, enjoying a cup of coffee while doing nothing or just idly posting on HN is something to be savored and enjoyed. Youth don't understand this wisdom until they've run around and wasted a lot of time of non-productive things. After they've experienced life some more, they learn to appreciate just doing nothing. Which is almost as good as sitting around a hunting campfire with your buddies doing nothing.[8D]

And I am not VC.[>:]

I miss static's stories.

I miss the great debates with the sword of truth vs the water pistoles.

Don't ever let your wife hear how no one has seen a deer on your property in weeks, yet you want to spend every available hour in the woods looking for something she now thinks does not exist. You quickly get reminded of Linus and his search for the Great Pumpkin.

I wish I knew what having nothing wrong was like. There is not a worse feeling than having 2 TV transmitter, 60 miles apart, and neither on the air. Thankfully, one can be fixed remotely with my laptop.

But, as far as the airline bailouts, maybe you should rephrase that from all of us can agree to most of us can agree.........[8D]

When I grow up, I want to have my very own catfish pond.

When I look at my computer screen, I have to wonder how all this internet stuff, color screens and instant information is possable by just using 1's and 0's and a few electrons. There are some truely brilliant people in this world.

A one million candlepower light is great for warming your sandwich up when you've been hunting.

American money has always been green and unmistakable when held side by side with european money. It has also been the bench mark for which other currencies are valued...Why are we now trying to make our money look like european money.

Why did vc have to mention taxes.

Why do people with bad breath always seem to be the same people who feel compelled to get real close to you when the're talking.
