Here is a letter I received from Wisconsin Senator Feingold after replying to a post about the liability actions against firearm manufacturers. Now, who can I sue for looking crosseyed at me ??????
Dear Phil,
Thank you for contacting me regarding civil liability action against firearm manufacturers. I appreciate hearing from you.
As you know, S. 659, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, was introduced by Senator Larry Craig on March 19, 2003. The bill would grant firearms manufacturers and distributors immunity from civil liability action. This legislation passed the House of
Representatives on April 9, 2003, and is now awaiting action in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
I plan to oppose S. 659 when it is considered by the Judiciary Committee. This bill does not affect the constitutional right to bear arms, a right that I have consistently supported throughout my service in the U.S. Senate and the Wisconsin State Senate. Instead, this bill gives a single industry broad and potentially limitless protection from civil liability. The legislation creates a broad exemption for the entire gun industry, a protection we do not, and should not, provide to any entire industry.
Thank you again for contacting me. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Sincerely,
Russell D. Feingold
United States Senator

He is nuttier than **** is nasty. The bill only protects them against something they are not liable for in the first place., More liberal spin put on this one in trying to garner votes from both sides of the issue.

What the fine senator does not seem to understand, or at least hopes that his constituants don' t understand is; There are already plenty of laws on the books that will hold the manufacturer liable if the equipment fails to operate like it' s supposed to.

Ultimately, the question is; should the manufacturer be held liable if the weapon operates like it is supposed to when the trigger is pulled.
If the gun blows up and kills the person pulling the trigger, or. if it " won' t" fire when the trigger is pulled, then the manufacturer is already held liable under current laws...And rightly so.
But thats not what this issue is about.
This issue is; If a person is killed by a weapon that is operating like it is supposed to...Should the person who MADE the weapon be responsable...or is the person who pulled the trigger responsable.
Obviously the person who pulled the trigger is the responsable party,,,But invariably, the person who pulled the trigger does not have very deep pockets...The folks who make guns do.
It' s all about bankrupting the gun manufactures into not being able to produce any more guns.

He is not only a weenie he is a liar, according to the brady bunches website he has voted just like they wanted him to 75% of the time.

What the hell did you expect? I' m surprised this piece of excrement didn' t call you a Bolshevik for your " quandry" .
Remember, this is the same vile lefty that publicly attacked Judge Pryor because he wouldn' t bring his children to " leather days" at disney world to have his children see all the flaming *****s in their " special" outfits. The same judge pryor (a catholic) that opposed judge moore ( a catholic) on constitutional grounds.
Feingold is not a lawmaker, he's a political poser.[:@]
