Default Political Identity??

Since all of us are so outspoken on here, which I think is a great thing, how do you identify yourself politically? One of my major focuses is comparitive politics, and I am always interested in what issues people use to identify themselves as Republican or Democrat, Liberal, Conservative, or Moderate. I myself like to get fired up every now and then, but I am pretty moderate with a good right lean . Definitely a Republican, I have been since I was about 8. The issues that are most likely to sway my political opinion are those dealing with hunting, such as gun control, tax issues, government intervention issues (such as those dealing with business regulation, privacy encroachments, etc...) and also foreign policy. I would like to hear some of your answers, just to understand where everyone on here is coming from.

I would say that the party that most " fits" me is the Libertarian Party(LP), although I am still a registered Republican and voted for GWB last time, and probably will vote for him again. I wish the LP could find some decent competitive candidates, because if they did and they could get their message out despite the 2-party polarization, I think many people would vote Libertarian.

You see, I have problems with both mainstream parties. I absolutely can' t support the liberal notion of big government control, and the outrageous tax-n-spend mentality. I also can' t support the liberal notion that we should be defenseless pawns dependant on the government for nearly everything.

I also can' t get completely behind the GOP' s tendence to want to legislate morality. If it doesn' t infringe directly on the rights of others, then we should be free to what we want without government interference.

I encourage anyone who' s interested to go to www.lp.org. I don' t agree with everything they say, but I do agree with most of it.

Registered and vote Republican. I probably most closely identify with the Constitutionalist party platform. None of the parties completely state my beliefs but how can any party achieve that with some catch all phrase or plank?

For myself I am basically a Libertarian. Although I am not completely Libertarian.

All parties have flaws, and I do mean all.

I am for lower taxes and limited government involvement in personal issues in my life.

I am against abortion, I believe in this day and age if you " accidently" get pregnant or get someoneelse pregnant you are either stupid or just plain dumb.
there are so many birthcontrol devices out there that there is no excuse.
In addition there are still people out there who want children and unfortunately cannot have them.

I am for legalization of drugs and all percentages of alcohol. If my kids are gonna get ahold of drugs let them work for it. Also at the same time regulations on purity and potency could be enforced by the FDA. Private companies can manufacture, package and sell, while government collects a tax on it funding child welfare commisions. As well as funding police forces. Take the profit away from punks pushing in schools, as well as neighborhood labs which put out a product that is unsafe and kills some unsuspecting kid who is just having a bad day and happens across it.

I am for closing borders and deporting any and all illegals regardless of what reason they are fleeing their homeland. Let them get fed up with it and revolt.
giving shelter to defecters only insures the countries they are defecting from continue in their ways.

I am for Racial equality. I do mean EQUALITY not giving preference to anyone!

I am for gay rights but not for gay marriages. if they want a " union" let them have it but marriage is man and wife.
(On a more personal note I do not want to hear about their sex lives any more than I do about anyone elses. btw, this means I do not want to hear it)

I am anti union yet believe in workers rights. Not some BS that a slacker who happens to get in the union being paid more than a non union person who actually pulls his/her weight. I am against Government giving bids exclusively to union contractors. I am for time off for pregnant mothers but not for mandatory pay.
I am for getting paid what your worth no matter how much or little.

I am for a seperation of Church and state regardless of what the constitution may or may not say about it.

I am for the death penalty. Period.
I am against 3 strike and your out laws, If you send a person to prison make the sentence match the crime, and leave it at that. Enough time off for good behavior, or time off because of limited jail space if crime is that high and the laws make sense build more jails.

I know this doesn' t conform to any party lines. I don' t care I am steadfast in these beliefs and if some candidate wants my vote I better see a large amount of these ideals in their platform.

I have voted for more than one party and unless I form my own (not gonna even try) I will continue voting for the man/woman I feel fits the bill.

bearmaster pretty much summed it up for me with the exception of abortion. There are too many circumstances other than stupidity to make it illegal.

I am also looking for land conservation. There is too little true public land as it is. What GW has done to the wilderness act allowing logging in wilderness areas really pi$$es me.

I' m for far less gun control. The bill of rights (second ammendment) belongs in the hands of the federal govt. not in the hands of states like California, New york, New Jersey, etc.... It guarantees the right to keep and bear arms, not to let the states pick and choose which arms.

Im Independent. I vote on issues that are mostly to the Right.
Bearmaster makes a lot of good points in a general sense that I agree with but will not go into detail.
Iam politically active with donations, nomination paper, attending meetings and going to the Capitals, state and federal, to lobby for issues I believe in and try to ensure a solid future for this country.
I have supported men and women in all the locally active parties. Independent

I' m not 100% sure which party fits me best. I know I lean way to the right. I' ve always been registered Republican, but will vote for the candidate whose values seem to most closely mirror my own.
I agree with alot of what bearmaster has listed. Not all, but alot.
I am anti-abortion and pro-death penalty. Some think that' s a contradicton. It' s not.
I' m all for extreme welfare reform---including kicking the majority of people off of it.
I think that most of the lawsuits filed in this country are ridiculous and there needs to be a panel formed to say it.
I also believe that women should be allowed to serve in the military, but should never be allowed to play professional football.[:-]
