Of the three the religious zealots among us are the worst.
Several days ago I welcomed one (unknowingly) to the board and said " have fun"
little did I know what I had done. To that person, a curse.
May your wife grow more beautiful and graceful every day of her life.
May your children grow wise and compassionate beyond their years.
May your business thrive and grow beyond your wildest expectations.
May you live in interesting times.
May your wife grow more beautiful and graceful every day of her life.
May your children grow wise and compassionate beyond their years.
May your business thrive and grow beyond your wildest expectations.
May you live in interesting times.
I have known my wife for 35, of my 42 years. She ages like fine wine
My 2 sons run my contracting business, Both are thoughtful, productive, and are showered with praise by those who know them. My daughter {17}is beautiful, and industrious. Home educated, she manages to work as a mortgage processor, while still engaging in ministry work.
My business {thanks to my sons} runs itself. Not only does it provide us an income, and our farm, it Glorifies Christ, and His Kingdom.
I do feel I live in interesting times. Though I am not of this world, I am in it nontheless, and enjoying the chance to serve Christ. Things will get even better when the trumpet calls, and I am taken away.
BTW..........Behold He comes, riding on the clouds, shining like the sun, at the trumpet call, lift your voice, its the year of jubilee, out of Zions hill salvation comes!
I have a personal theory about folks that are like you describe.
Let me preface my theory with this statement; Most folks that I know are comfortable with their relationship with their God. They go about their daily lives with only the occasional mention of something of a religious nature. They don' t feel the need to try and demean other religions, or convert you to theirs.
Now...to my theory; There are those among us...Not only here on the board, but in society in general, that are insecure in everything that they do. OR...let me phrase that another way...Must be given a direction in life.
There are several groups, or gangs that will embrace that person with open arms.
When you join one of these groups, you can easily allow youself to become completely submerged in their way of thinking and acting. Because you are now a member, you can openly hate other groups...Tell everyone that your way is the best way and ONLY way to live,,,all while having a platform to speak from. You are, after all, surrounded and protected by other like minded people.
A few of those groups that I mentioned come to mind.
-The skinheads.
-KKK
-Both black and white gangs in cities
-ACLU
-NAACP
- And a drum roll please............................................ Religion.
I have another theory also.
When I meet someone for the first time, and they feel the need to tell me how honest they are...Then I know not to trust them.
When I meet a person for the first time, and they feel the need to tell me how much money they have...Then I know they only ACT like they have money.
When I meet a person for the first time, and they tell me how successfull they are...then I know they are not.
When I meet a person for the first time, and they feel the need to tell me how religious they are...Then I know that the chances are good that they will use a bible to poke me in the eye while stealing my wallet.
" Most folks that I know are comfortable with their relationship with their God. They go about their daily lives with only the occasional mention of something of a religious nature."
Funny you should mention that............In Christs message to the Churches he warns of the Christians you speak of, who live inside their comfort zone, not pushing the envelope of evangelism that Christ wants.
He calls these Christians " lukewarm" . Apathetic people who shrink from the Word, and water down the gospel has not to make their lives uncomfotable. Of these people He says He is " about to spit them out of His mouth" {wash His hands of them}
Now I got a theory, when I meet a person for the first time who is obcessing over what Christians are saying, and doing, I gotta check and make sure I aint A........in a DNC convention, B...........A nambla meeting, or C..........the set of the Rosie O' Donnell show.
" Oh lord, your sea is so great and my boat is so small" I have said those words many times while on a SAR mission and for that matter when I was not. I know God better than most men can ever hope to for he has carried me in his hands more often than should be expected. He has returned me time and again to my family and loved ones, often times after a successful mission where lives were saved. Please do not even think of telling me how I should worship, believe or how much better you are than the rest of us here.
Coastie, spare me your damage control. Your thread was started with malicious intent, it back fired, you got egg on your face; now use your own sleeve to wipe it off.
Ask yourself this. Would my comments be on this thread, if you didn' t start it?
