WASHINGTON (AP)--Border hospitals and those required
by law to treat illegal immigrants will receive $1
billion over four years to defray the costs under
major health legislation that neared passage by the
Senate on Monday.
The provision was part of the Medicare bill,
overhauling government health care coverage for the
nation' s elderly. It appeared headed to President
Bush.
Each state would be eligible for reimbursement, but
the funding formula is skewed to help border hospitals
that frequently treat illegal immigrants.
Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., said cash-strapped hospitals in
his state have been forced to scale back services or
close their doors. Arizona would get the third-highest
amount of money, $160 million, behind only California
and Texas.
Federal law requires hospitals to care for anyone who
walks through their doors. The costs of such care have
forced many hospitals, especially those in border
communities, to close their doors or scale back their
service.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., said the reimbursement
would encourage more aliens to cross the border to
seek medical care. ``If you build an illegal alien
entitlement program, they will come,' ' he said last
week as the House considered the legislation.
Members of the House and Senate from Arizona,
California, Texas and New York introduced legislation
earlier this year seeking $1.45 billion in
reimbursement funds, but the bill has not seen any
progress.

RE: Border problem is all but lost......
Im going to try to hide my discontent. Welcome to the other socialism. A socialism where only the good work, so the lazy, illegals, etc. can live well.
USA= United Socialist states of America. I always thought a socialism required all to work for the good of the nation. Ours requires the ambitious to work for the good of the lazy and illegal.[:@]

When I was coaching years ago,we had a saying, F@#@em and feedem fish
heads. Why do we feel the need to help all illegal. Why cant we refuse hand
outs, and indoctrinate the above saying. It might cut down a little on our
social handouts. Why should my tax dollars go to help someone form another
country, while taking the spoon out of my own child"™s
mouth.[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:' (][:' (]
Because we can work and pay taxes doesn"™t mean we want that money given
away. Instead of taxation without representation, we have taxation without
common sense.

RE: Border problem is all but lost......
I have to post yet again. Recently I had to take my daughter to a E.R. in a
small town. My insurance policy was with an HMO (thank God I have changed
it). The hospital was not part of the HMO, so we had to wait in the lobby
for them to clear the insurance, call our family doctor, and take care of the
paper work. My daughter set with me for hours before they would see her.
I did all I could to get her seen quicker, to no avail. As we were setting, a
mother with 6 kids came in. She spoke no English, had no insurance, but her
child was seen right away. I took up the issue with the admission personal,
they simple said that is the rules, or this is how it is done, or this is the law,
something to that extent.
Makes sense to me. Ignore the members of society who pay, hold insurance,
and live in this country legally, so you can help the " unfortunate" .

Not as serious of a problem but in the same vein. My wife and I went to get a marriage license a few years ago in a county that neither of us lived in, but one that we were to be married in. As we waited to be called by the country registrar for the priviledge of being served by the most dignified elected official, there were a group of Mexicans in front of us there for the same reason. They had an interpreter speaking for them- they just had to sign some document and were given their marriage license. When my wife and I were finally able to enter the exalted presence of the his majesty the registrar, he took my wife' s DL as ID, and looked at mine, and told me I needed more proof of being a citizen because I was born after 1971. He had the gall to tell me that I needed to present to him a birth certificate even though I had a wisconsin drivers license, spoke fluent, if not perfect english, a social security card (I know, its not an ID card but its more than the the people before me had) and told the guy- I was born in the nexrt county over, why not give them a call and have them fax a copy over since I drove an hour to be graced by your presence? Nope, cannot do, you must pay the $XX and contact them on your own and have them send you a copy of your birth certificate, then bring it back here. I' d be better served by goobermint offices if I renounced my citizenship and learned a different language to speak around them.[:@][:@][:@]

Before moving to Arizona, I lived in Maine. I was aware of the problem of illegals, especially since my in-laws were all Border Patrol, US Customs, or INS. When I moved to Arizona, I became even more aware of it. Arizonans living closer to the border are extremely aware of it. I don' t believe the average American can comprehend the gravity of this, until they see it with their own eyes. See www.desertinvasion.us I read somewhere that Republicans don' t want to address the problem, because it' s cheap labor; Democrats don' t want to deal with it, because it' s votes, and fuel for social programs. I tend to believe that. It' s the elephant in the living room, that nobody wants to talk about.
this is the kind of thing that infuriates me to no end, how our elected offial' s just take for granted how we the voting public that put them in office feel they can constantly side step our constitution, i broke my back 4 yrs ago and ever because of some stupid laws that have gotten past our state govt here in mich i couldnt hold the company or the doctors responsible for the careless and unsafe actions they took, now heres the real kick in the arse i was given i had started my own small business about 2 yrs before my ill fated nite and the part time nite job i was working(40+) hrs was paying my taxes and in general being a good citizen well after getting hurt i applied for ss disability and for 1 yr was denied, then after i recieved my first check the ssa called me in for a reevaluation and i was told that 600.00 a month was way above what i had been payin in for the last 20yrs, but that was my max i could recieve and each of my children get 40.00 each .. now i dont want a handout or anyone to pity me as i have always worked hard for everything i have,, but can anyone tell me why a mexican migrant farm hand who was seriously injured on his job is getting over 1000.00 dollars a month plus over 150.00 per child and he never paid 1 dime into ssa i gotta tell ya all it makes me sick to see what our govt does to the citizens of this country, would be nice if they would at least kiss us first lol. an yet just give any foregiener everything on a silver platter , well my 2cents worth deadshot
