It' s almost here, a time when we travel to mom and dad' s house, a time when the grandkids all get to see each other, a time when we write letters to those very far away and even all over the world that are too far to visit in person, a time when we share our Christian values with other Christians and even some non Christians.
We cook up a small feast to share with our familys and friends and celebrate the birth of our savior.
We go to church Christmas eve, take comnunion and are reminded of the traditions of the event that have evolved over two millenia.
If we' re lucky enough to have snow we might play fox and hounds with the grandkids in the snow...what a ball.
If you don' t feel that way, if you want to blame wal-Mart, I suggest you go take a look in the mirror.
CHRISTMAS IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT not what your neighbor makes it.
Thanks, Vapodog!!! Great post!
My son, David, will be coming from Virginia! Yay!His wife and baby got here last Thursday to visit for Thanksgiving since he has to be on base then. I can' t wait! This Christmas, hopefully, all our kids will be home at the same time for the first time in 2 years! I will definitely have lots of film!
We are beyond broke this year, but nobody cares! We will have good food, lots of fun, and (knock on wood) our whole family together! It don' t get no better than that!

I don' t think Strut&rut was blaming wal-mart persay, but rather the commercial attitude in general, and the phoney nature of soo many people. Like people who never attend church, going to church on Christmas Eve, or writing letters to people you ignore all year.
Also, I find it funny that you chastise others about worrying about what their neighbors think, while you are doing the very same thing.
I have saw a few people that did' nt want to share in the joys of christmas, people that thought christmas was all wrong, not wanting to be part of it, but I have yet to have them return or turn down a christmas gift that was given to them. As long as Christ is the reason I love it.

Vap. I will never forget the Xmas' s when I was growing up. My Granparents always sat right by the door so they could greet and hug all the kids and grandkids. The big Xmas dinners and the opening the presents and the older folks playing cards and eating all the left over pies. One little sliver at a time. As my mother once said and meant it with all her heart, ( we were all so broke and so darn happy) I grew up in the best possible family situation surronded by faith in God and Love of family. We try to carry on the tradition but now adays the families are seperated by countries instead of counties, continates instead of states. I hope to spend this Xmas with as many of the family as can possible make it. We will remember however who this holiday is all about. Blessed Holidays to you all.
