When do we leave Iraq??
Haven' t posted here in awhile so if this subject is rehash, I apologize.
Just wondered what everyone thinks of 30,000 troops wounded, hundreds dead and thousands more in harm' s way.
We still haven' t found any weapons, any biological agents, or any concrete evidence we should have invaded---besides the fact that Saddam was an evil man. The political aftermath is killing Bush, his approval ratings drop every week.
The post-war efforts in Iraq are a joke, with no progress and no end in sight.
The only allies we had going in were the Brits, and even now the entire UK is pretty much had it for the Iraq issue---if Tony Blair lasts 6 more months he should feel like a god...
We are spreading ourselves too thin with Iraq, North Korea, Afghanistan and all our island posts. Add to that Homeland security and our holiday seasons upon us, and I smell trouble. Saddam needed to go, but are we better off or have we cut a wedge between the US/rest of the world that will be too big to conceal and fix??
What does everyone think??

I think that Iraq is not going as well as planned, but there are good things going on there. Fox News Channel points out the good things, such as schools reopening and new construction, more than the other stations. Our soldiers, Marines, airmen, sailors, etc.. being in harm' s way is not good, but it is also their profession, and for that we are grateful. I think that Bush is trying to please everyone, and what he needs to do is kick ass and get out. Turn up the intensity on Iraq. I for one do not really care what the rest of the world thinks, they sure don' t care for us anyway. Screw em. I think that Bush will be re-elected, but it won' t be as easy as people seem to think. The Democratic candidates are pathetic anyway. As a hunter, however, I do wish that the environmental issues, such as drilling in Alaska, would cease and decist. We should put that money into alternative fuels. All in all, I think Bush is doing a good job, he has been handicapped by politics, so to speak, in running the war. He is focused and intent on winning, and a very determined man. He gets my vote next year, and I am proud to have him as our leader.
Most of the big profits are from ripping off the american consumer and its been going on for years. Iraq had very little if anything to do with it. Iraq need doing and Bush did it. Things will turn out well there. Hind sight is 20-20 its also Bull Ship Unless someone has a better Idea of how to end terrorism I hope they speak up instead of just slamming the ones tring to get it done. Some seem willing to stay out of the battle and cry because the battle isen' t won yet. Better to fight them over yonder than in the streets of our own cities. Bush is dumb like a fox.
Your right I am missing something. However most of what I am missing is liberal bull shipping. So really when it comes right down to it I ain' t missing much at all. You can read anything with half the facts and draw any conclusion you like. If there is rebuilding to do in Iraq then I quess someone will have to do it. Do we just Damn them and draw the conclusion something is evil is going on? Like I said Sadame was way overdo to be kicked out. He tried more than once to murder U. S. Officals. Should we have left him alone and hoped he would get tired of killing his people and supporting terrorism? Thank Goodness Bush Didn' t Think so.
I did some searching and came up with a website called " Antiwar.com" While i' ll admit they do seem to be biased and unlikely to be objective, even this group has placed the current amount of wounded in the Iraqi war at 2336 and total killed in the war at 422 (includes non-combat deaths). Here' s a link to the website.
I think so. The terrorists murdered over 3300 Americans on that terrible day. Since then, we have not had any successful repeats of that tragedy. We have served notice on 2 countries, many terrorists and their supporters throughout the world--We' re not going to take this anymore. We haven' t killed every single terrorist nor have we completely eliminated terrorism but we have made a huge dent in terrorism worldwide. because of these 2 wars, America is much safer.
have we cut a wedge between the US/rest of the world that will be too big to conceal and fix??
That depends on your perspective. Do you think the rest of the world has ever truly supported us? I' d say no. They may ally themselves with us temporarily for their own gain but there are few countries who are our true allies. Most other countries are out for themselves only and really do not care about any other country. I think we' ve had a " wedge between the US/rest of the world" for quite some time and we have been overlooking it without success. Until we recognize this wedge and stand firm against it, we are never going to achieve a solution or fix--Just a continuation of other countries trying to take advantage of us for their own selfish gain.
I don' t think Afghanistan or Iraq represent another Vietnam or any other failure that we have to be concerned about. Although neither campaign is perfect, both represent excellent opportunities for America to effect some major changes in that part of the world and safeguard Americans much more effectively.
