Americans may no longer deserve liberty!?!

These words were spoken by Benjamin Franklin! Do they sound familiar? I just finished reading the entire thread entitled, " Assault Weapons?" We have become a nation mired in the minutia! We, as gun owners, are doing exactly what those desiring to deprive us of our liberty would have us to do! We are LOST IN THE DETAILS! We have forgotten what the battle is about. And I strongly believe that not only have we forgotten the real issue....but even more frightening.....we have lost the will to respond!

Oh, I know, some of us talk a good argument. But how many of you know that the real Crocodile Dundee died while attempting to " run" a police road block in Australia? Why, you ask? Because he refused to stop and be subjected to a search. A search looking for weapons that had become illegal to own in Australia. Weapons that he had owned for his entire life.....and he had been " known to be armed" and the road block was set for the express purpose of stopping, searching, and then disarming him! How many people do YOU KNOW willing to do that? How many of YOU are willing to do that?!?

Benjamin Franklin believed he was making an " argument" against tryanny.....I believe he was prophesizing " our" future!!!

WAKE UP AMERICA.....before it' s too late!

I am with ya there man. It' s out of hand. Something needs to be done, and in a hurry. More balls and less brains (aimed at you Biller) are necessary. If every gun owner in America just wrote to Congress and said, " look, a$$hole, I am not giving my guns to you or anybody," I wonder what they would have to say. This country needs a sharp jab to the lip, and then to wake up rejuvenated and excited about liberty, free markets, and things that go boom!

When they come to get my guns, is when I become a terrorist or patriot, depending on your point of view. I refuse to live in this country with out 2nd amendment rights.

I have no use for the so calles assualt rifles. Besides to me an assault weapon is only any weapon used in an assault. Having said that, ownership of any type of firearms that a citizen wants to own should be allowed. Hunting style guns were not the object of the second ammendment. Defense against an over dominating government was. Make no mistake, protection against any government foriegn or domestic gone wrong is why the framers included the second ammendment. Liberals would have us named as thugs to ever doubt that the government should be all powerful and always right. On the subject of gun control there can be no compromise on any point by the gun owning public. Gun control is not a political issue but an issue of freedom and treason.

I can' t imagine why a Hunting-Pro-Gun site like this only generates 5 or 6 posts on this topic. I guess people would rather talk about abortion, religion, republican vs democrat..ect... If this is the kind of things hunters and shooters prefer to talk about instead of standing in defense of our heritage, why don' t ya just tune into Oprah, Jerry Springer, CNN or the Disney Channel and let reallity just keep sliping on by. Then again try watching the History Channel and maybe get a reminder of why this contry is GREAT and how many times in our history we have done what is right for other nations being oppressed by dictators and murdered by the millions. Why are our gun rights so important? How would you like to defend yourself with a Deer Rifle against a government armed with automatic weapons?

Hi eldequello,

I agree that for the most part I am preaching to the choir. But after closely examining the thread " Assault Weapons" I am not entirely convinced that " this choir" is all singing the same tune! If read closely you' ll notice there are apparently many gun owners that have bought into the notion that there are some guns that " are bad" , or " not for sport" , or " not to be trusted in the hands of ordinary citizens" ! As if by virtue of being employed by some government agency you are to be " more trusted" !

This is the route to eventual loss of not only the 2nd Amendment, but all individual liberties as we know them today. (And certainly as was intended at the founding of this republic.) " The death of a thousand slices!" And what better way to set yourself up, than as a " pro-sportsman" . " I don' t want your hunting guns" . Just those " bad, evil, assault type weapons" . And not only are the anti' s selling this song and dance to the uninformed....they are even making inroads with gun owners themselves!

After all, who isn' t for a " safe environment" for our children and families?!? Whose isn' t for " regulations that will make it tougher for criminals to get guns" ? (Like the 20,000 laws currently on the books aren' t enough already!) PPPUUUULLLEEEEAAAAASSSEEEEE.....give me a break! It is already unlawful to use a firearm in the comission of a crime, (and that has solved the problems...yeah right!). If you wanted to be realistic about it only ONE law is needed concerning firearms. You use any firearm in the course of a criminal activity.....spend life in prison. You kill someone during the comission of that crime....you fry! No excuses.....no exceptions! Will it prevent all crime? Absolutely not! But it will ensure NO REPEAT OFFENDERS!

It is not the goal of the anti' s to give us a safe environment to live and work in....it is their goal to take the power out of the hands of the people! It is that simple. Why should gun owners make their goals any easier for them to achieve?

I do aggree with akbound on this topic- but people-dont forget to look for the other ways our government and [&:]liberals[X(] are slowly eroding our constitutional rights[:' (]---------It' s NOT just guns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see alot of people on this board who aren' t in the choir. I see alot of people bashing the NRA, (because they send out alot of mail) bashing pro-gun repbulicans while praising anti-gun democrats. Not everyone here on this board is part of the choir...and some are here just too add some sour notes.
