show in which they competed to win the affections of a beautiful woman - who later turned out to be a man waiting for a sex-change operation.
The contestants have instructed law firm Schillings, which specialises in media cases, to begin legal proceedings against Sky One and the show' s producer, independent company Brighter Pictures.
The men claim they were tricked into kissing, cuddling and holding hands with the " woman" , Miriam, and say it was only after three weeks of filming that they were told she was male.
While viewers know from the start that Miriam is a male-to-female transsexual, the contestants, who include a Royal Marine commando, a ski instructor and an ex-lifeguard, only discover the truth when Miriam picks the winner and then lifts up her skirt.
I' m a firm believer that anyone who subjects themselves to " reality tv" get what they deserve if things go bad. If they never said the dude was a lady (hey, that' s almost a song) then I don' t get the lawsuit.
I would love to see the reaction there buddies will give them when they see them kissing a tranny

I' d be giving that producer and anyone else who used me a free sex change operation with my pocket knife. Then I' d sue them

I don' t know if there is a legal leg to stand on, but they obviously deliberately misled these guys, which will cause them probably a lifetime of embarrassment at the very least---possibly worse than that.
The first phrase that comes to mind is " justifiable homocide" .[>:]

Jorgy, sue them for missleading them into thinking this was a woman and placing them in a position to have more than casual contact with it. If you introduce some one who appears to be a woman and place those people into a situation where there may be intimate contact, even very limited, you have a responsibility to identify that perosn for what they are not what they are pretending to be.
The harm or lost suffered is future piece of mind, embarrassment and on and on and on...
Do you think what the TV outfit did was OK or above board?

I stand by that
So your telling me everytime you introduce someone to someone you identify everything about that person? I really don' t think so. If the producer as it says in the story never told these guys the dude was a lady, then they made an assumtion and it is there fault.
I understand that the producer set it up so that they would " fall" for this guy, but that is the reality of reality TV. Only idiots would subject themselves to this crap.
DISCLAIMER: Survivor excluded since I watch that show

No Jorgy and I never said that nor did I implied that I did do that when I introduced people. Im not sure where you got that from.
But if I introduced someone to you who was dressed like a woman, made up like a woman but wasn' t a woman, I' d introduce them as Mr. whatever and let them explain their case. The only reason some one would not would be with the intent to fool you and that is the case here. The liability for that type of action can be dangerous and expensive.
The same would apply to anyone else who' s appearence was missleading beyond the gender.
I understand what the producer and creator of this show was doing but I believe it was sick and underhanded unless there was some degree of disclosure and these fellows are just stupid.
To a degree I agree with what you say about reality tv, but if there is an exception, this is certianly it.
