Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Not becoming of someone who should be eternally grateful. I am disappointed to hear that! Shame on Jessica.

[1st] I am glad she made it back home, [2nd] She is a hero just like any other vet. [3rd] she should be reconized just like ANY other vet. The special words are ANY or ALL.....All vet' s should get a 500,000 dollar book deal, what' s good for one should be good for all. It seems the public looks at her as being more of a vet then the folks that were next to her. Of coarse they are dead now so I quess they won' t be getting any book deals. It' s great that America has a hero but lets not forget all of those over there now, or that served there country. As far as her snubbing that guy who really knows what happened. The media loves to twist sh**, maybe she had to be in the hospital or something and just could not see the guy.

The difference between Lynch and the average veteran is that the average American isn' t interested in reading the story of an average G.I., whereas many people will gladly pay $19.95 to pick up a copy of Lynch' s book.

To me, though, she is no different than any other member of our military personnel who have lived through the hell of enemy prisons. Lynch really is a hero in the truest sense of the word and I wouldn' t wish what she endured upon anyone. But there are plenty of American vets who suffered MUCH, MUCH more at the hands of the enemy than Private Lynch. Why are folks not interested in their stories? The media, mostly

Lets look at it in another light. SHE is a 19 year old FEMALE who was wounded and taken hostage. That is the only reason she has this great book deal. Isn' t great[:@] what gender does

It seems to me that she has forgotten, if she ever had any, manners. I don' t know how she was raised but she to a degree owes her life to that man.
How long would it have been before she would have been recovered by her own troops if not for him. We' ll never know, maybe not before it was to late and she would have come home in a body bag. No book deal for her then. We do know this man risked his and his families well being for her rescue.
To me that calls for an open door an life long graditude to this man, 7/24/365 book deal or not.
This is a good man and he deserves better than such low class treatment. She should be ashamed of herself.

My gut feeling is that the is still a kid without a clue.

I am skeptical of the story as written, but assuming that it is true, there is probably more " to it" than we see.

Based on my limited experience...A femail PFC in the service is not the brightest bulb on the tree, and it is very likely that she is following the course laid out to her by those she feels know more about these things than she does. Family and friends for instance.

She' s from West Virginia for Christ' s sake.

Give the kid a break, she probably has no clue that she did something wrong. The amount of coverage she has received has most likely been more than overwhelming.

I think that her only mistake was not paying enough attention in tha " map-reading" class during boot camp.

I' m glad she served our country in an honorable way, but I would reserve the word Hero for those who really deserve it. Getting lost, having your poorly maintained weapons jam, and getting captured does not make for a hero. The SF guys who rescued her and others on the other hand fit the description of a hero much more than her. They will never get recognition for it, and I doubt that they want recognition as they probably see it as part of their everyday job.
