Difference between a Liberal and Democrat?

The word ' liberal' gets thrown around alot in this forum (guilty) and I was just wondering......what' s the difference between and Liberal and a Democrat?

In most cases I think nothing is different. Most liberals are democrat most conservatives are republican.

When I think of the two words, I associate democrat more as a group of people or a party...and liberal more as an ideology.

I know some conservative democrats and some liberal republicans...

So I usually use the terms liberal and conservative and shy away from making it party affiliated...

I like to point out the flaws in their ideals instead of the party flaws basically...lol.

I agree with Froman. It' s a state of mind an additude.
I see it as....
A liberal wants the problems solved their way and for you to pay for it. They know what' s best for everybody yet don' t want anyone tell them what to do. They see the general population as a tax resourse to fuel their ideals. They operate on feelings and appearances. Liberals take pride on being what they are liberals. It' s a label they wear with foolish pride.
I see a Democrate as a follower. They are just doing what their mom and dad did and told them to do the same. One who wants the government to solve all their problems. Hard core Union activist. People who don' t understand how big and small business give them job. They see jobs, health care, as entitlements not benefits. They lack the vision to see the effect their actions will have on future generations. Welfare is the best example. Generation after generation of welfare families. A well intended feel good idea that spiraled out of control.
That is why the Liberals can lead the Democrates around like sheep.

" Liberals" is a term correctly used by Republicans for describing Democrats.

" Democrats" is a term mistakingly used by Liberals when describing themselves.

I' ve still never actually met a self-described Liberal, but know MANY Democrats!

Not much IMO, most of the ones that wear the democrat name is just ashamed to wear the liberal name, I work with one that says he is a democrat but not a liberal, but he still votes for the most liberal name on the ballot, he says that he is against abortion, fagism, and the rest of the things the liberal party stands for but yet he votes for the ones that push this type of agenda, IMO if one votes for the jerks that are pushing the liberal agenda then he is a liberal whether he likes the name or not. Actions speak louder than words, if you vote liberal, then your' re a liberal, Just like the supposedly pro-gun people that voted for algore, They can call themselves whatever they want but how they vote tells the real truth in what they are.

All people are born liberals. Later in life, those that was also born with a brain switch and become conservatives. Those that " almost" have a brain will become democrats or republicans depending on what their parents was.

There is no difference and both should be avoided at all cost. The Rebublicans are not as conservative as they once were but are much more so than the Dems. Budget is far from the only thing that make a liberal or conservative.
