Remember the old arguments about oil/the middle east and opec ???

I brought up the fact that we bought more oil from Norway than we do from Saudi Arabia - and that Russia who is not a member of OPEC has the largest reserves in the Cauccasus on earth ???

THEY' RE PLANNING ON CRUSHING THE MIDDLE EAST WITH OIL PRODUCTION. ....

Wouldn' t it be wonderful if that great big bargaining chip that they' ve used to hold half the world hostage were just suddenly yanked away from them???

I say screw em! WE already own one of the largest oil producing countries on the planet..... Iraq! Hoist our flag and keep it for ourselves....

on a serious note though, it would be nice if someone took the wind out of the middle easterner' s sail.....

Several years ago I read a book on the history & developement of Saudi Arabia.
One of the higher ups in the royal & ruling family (King Saud maybe?) was asked what he thought his country' s most vaulable resource was. He responded that it was not oil but Mecca, the holy city of Islam.

I wonder if they' ll still be thinking that way when all the oil is used up?

JoeA: King Suad didn' t want anything to do with oil, he thought it would be their downfall. The big oil companies convinced him otherwise.
Maybe he was smarter than people thought or cared.
