Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Trick or Treat.....

Is Halloween a good thing or a bad thing? As I continue to grow as a Christian, I find myself pondering this question since the time has arrived. Any thoughts?

Kids smiling having a good time, what' s wrong with that?

Kids don' t think about Halloween as News Years Eve for witches.

My sister wouldn' t let her kids TOT it just bummed them out.

My 5 year old daughter is going as a football player ,I can' t wait.

I know how some Christians feel I' m not a Christian, but I can respect how they feel. Especially with what Halloween originally was all about.

The original date is the Celtic new year where the druids would go around demanding food or they would curse you.....

that is the origin of the pagan ritual; However, the word Halloween actually has its origins in the Catholic Church. In the 7th century the church celebrated All Saints' Day in May, but by the 9th century the date had been changed to November 1st. Another name for All Saints' Day was All Hallows' Eve, which was later shortened to Halloween. In the 10th century the church named November 2nd as All Souls' Day in memory of all dead souls. Halloween, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day come so close together and are so similar that in some countries they tend to merge together.
So your kids are in essence celebrating a Roman Catholic Holiday...

I think it' s best just to let them have fun and not make too big a deal out of it. I knew kids in school who were not allowed to celebrate Halloween and I always felt sorry for them because they were basically left out of the fun.

Just tell them it is a day for kids to dress up and eat candy and leave out the religious complications. They' re too young to understand all of that anyway. Dressing up isn' t going to demonize them or anything.

Halloween for kids means dressing up in costumes, knocking on doors and asking for candy treats.

As a kid I used to soap windows and rattle shelled corn on tin roofs, some used to knock over outhouses(yes, a few people still had them). Now they like to TP homes and soap windows.

I would not associate Halloween with Hollywood horror movies. Hollywood thrives on releasing scary, gory movies every year at this time.

As far as Christians......most churchgoers around here don' t seem bothered.

It' s for the kids. Let them have fun, get some candy and live a care free life for a while. Don' t you wish once in a while that you could live that way again? I shure do.
