Default Socal Union strikes again!

Whats with these unions going on a yearly strike? The tranportation people went on strike and now there are even more people on the freeways and instead of it taking 45 minutes to get to work on the 101 interstate it takes about two hours to get to work. Another strike going on is the Grocery Stores workers are going on strike because they dont want to pay 20 bucks a month for a family insurance package for the employees. Now family insurance costs alot these days and im sure alot of people dont have the coverage that these workers could get but the damn union always has to protest! Do you guys think that unions are going to far these days?

the union i' m in called " *****" , doesn' t do one damn thing for us , they don' t even defend us when the company wrongs us for instance , one of the people i work with took thier vacation this past summer during our company " shutdown " period , which is basically a two week period over the 4th of july holiday that people can take off as vacation as it' s not mandatory work time , when this person came back to work after " shutdown" , they were informed that they were fired for taking vacation , the our union did nothing , so they appealled to the " federal union labor board" and finally got thier job back as they weren' t in the wrong and the company was but , they were off work for about a month , weren' t qualified for unemployment , and didn' t get any of thier back pay that by right is owed to them as they had thier labor rights violated by the company , and once again our union did nothing.

i' ve never been in a union before and i don' t ever want to be in one again , especially this one , it SUCKS

i changed the name to * as i don' t want to get sued by them

President Reagan fired every member of the air traffic controllers union and made it stick, maybe it' s time for another round of firings for a municipal union this time.
There are ways for a union to obtain fair pay, benefits and treatment for their members without a strike which affects huge segments of the population. Negotiations and even court action (NLRB, binding arbitration etc.) which although they may take longer, are just as effective and far less disruptive to the public.
Driving a bus is not rocket science, replacements for drivers and mechanics fired should be fairly easy to find especially with the unemployment rate being what it is
unless the press is exagerating that too.

when are some people going to wake up ?????

I have never been in a union, don' t want to be either !!! Some unions I have seen in the pastdo some good for the workers, but I think most of the unions right now are going to cost people their jobs !! $20 a month for insurance and these people don' t want to pay it ???? Awwwwww, poor babies, let them get a job in the noin union world and see how 200, 300 even up to 500 a month for health insurance eats into their paychecks !!!

I' m just tired of these union people whining !!!!!!

I am a union member that is not real thrilled with them or thier plan to oganize every suck butt they can which results in GOOD long time members getting replaced by these " yes" men. Mine needs it' s house cleaned on top!!!
Now to blame, huh,.............................. Nah!
Ever swatted a yellow jacket off of you? How about a a swarm of them?
Now which method would you logically use to bargain with the behemoth that is corporate America????????
Seems to me I saw a post here last week of some one not able to figure out with all the UAW jobs going out of the country, why car and truck prices have NOT gone down . Try Amercan, NO! [>:]GLOBAL[>:] CORPORATE GREED!!![X(]
Now I am not the liberal leaf licker I might have just sounded like, more like a realist. I wouldn' t claim either party right now although the GOP leans closer to my beliefs on land use and gun rights.

cougarmag, I am not in a union and I work on straight commission in sales for a small (50 people) company. Maybe thats why I have to pay $375 a month for health insurance ( a 50/50 split with the company) for just the wife and me. Now I am probably paid a little more than the average joe on the street who is working hourly, but yet it just irks me to no end that some of these union people, who have fantastic insurance coverage by the way, are complaining that they now have to share in the cost of their insurance for a small measily amount compared to the rest of the world. The transit system where I live is a prime example. I beleive they were told that they may have to pay about $10 a month !!!! You would ahve thought the world was going to end with the stink they put up over that !!!
