Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Limbaugh Admits Prescription Drug Addiction

It was the last few minutes of today' s show when Rush came clean that he is addicted to prescription painkillers and is checking into a treatment center for 30 days. He could have left it at that but went on to thank people for being supportive and told people in no uncertain terms that he was not a victim nor a role model. He explained how the everyday Joe' s who do their job without complaining or giving up are the role models to be emulated. I was very impressed with the way he didn' t whine, blame someone else or try to duck the issue. He isn' t able to fully comment on things due to an investigation but he was able to display some class and integrity. God Bless Rush and hurry back.[8D]

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I thought he would handle it this way....and if so, I' d stand behind him. I' ll be sure to be tuned in his first day back.

He may have common human weaknesses but he' s still a powerful individual. If he never returned to the radio, his contribution to this country will be felt forever.

The libbies are in real trouble now, Look what he has done to the liberals while on pain killers, just think what he will be capable of when he gets off of them.

He can and has defeated the liberals with half his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair.

I never knew that he had gone thru a spinal surgury. God speed Rush.

I never cared for any of Rush' s commentary but I will say this. I commend him for not whining and placing blame elsewhere.

By the way, being addicted to painkillers is not like being addicted to say...pot, coke, heroin, etc. By that I mean its painkillers for goodness sakes! At least he had good reasons for taking them whereas using those others is plain stupid!!!!

I have a brother who got addicted to sleeping pills because he needed them....thank God he can sleep better now and only uses a mild version when absolutely necessary.

Rush Limbaugh committed a crime. What he did was illegal and no difference whatsover exists because of his reasons. Many people turn to drugs because of the pain of severe depression, personality disorders, or a variety of other pathologies. They are subject to the law and so is he. To be consistent, thinking people must condemn is actions, not condone, or excuse them. Anything other than that requires the same lame excuses that were shoved down our throats for Clinton' s pandering and drug usage.

VC, I don' t think anybody is condoning Rush being addicted to painkillers. These types of meds are regulated by law for the very reason that they are highly addictive. From Rush' s comments, it sounds like his doctor was still prescribing the meds to him. From what people have been saying in the rumors, it sounds like his housekeeper was helping him acquire additional painkiller meds which would be illegal. Supposedly, some law enforcement agency is still investigating these claims.

I started this post because I was impressed about how Rush has owned up to having a problem, decided to do something about the problem and has gone out of his way on his own show to be straight with people, not blame anybody else for his mistakes and explain that he is not a role model. Believe me, you rarely see somebody this forthright and honest.

In my line of work, I have arrested only 2 people who were this honest publicly in court. I shook both of their hands, told them how impressed I was with their honesty and wished them good luck. A crime may still be a crime but I do admire somebody who owns up to their crime or mistake, corrests the problem and, most importantly, doesn' t try to blame somebody else for their screwup. This may be a glass half full/empty type of argument but I admire somebody who has that kind of honesty.

VC. You may be right or you may not be. If he did in fact buy some of these illigally then you are correct. As far as I know the investigation on the charges that he had a house keeper buy him some illigally is underway but has not been proven as a fact. He may have been taking more than a legal perscription would allow him to buy. I really need sleeping pills but I am scared to death to get on them for this very reason. I am lucky to sleep one night out of four. It gets to really be a drag.
