The very fact that all of us go to Wally World and buy foreign goods is the reason.....Not Nafta
This quote from Vapodog was taken from " Why won' t the Prices Drop" ?
I thought the other day about all the goods we buy coming MOSTLY from China.
I was searching for a spotting scope made in America and was willing to spend a little more on one to do just that" Buy American" It is almost impossible to find one.
I would like your help in listing AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS anyone who has info on American products please list them.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE......

Leupold. Is one of the few USA made optics. There are most likely a few more and some companies make some products here and some over yonder. I would also like a good list. Most of the bullets I think are made here. Many good knives are made here. I think Buck makes most of thiers here. I am sure that most companies import many of thier products. In my mind that does not make them all bad. If they stand behind thier products no matter where they are made I can live with that. However it will be up to us to search out American products. It is clear that our Goverment regardless of party is not going to protect us from being raped by imports.[:@] I try to buy American. Like you said it ain' t always easy.
Yeah, Buck and Gerber both still make great knives in the USA, and both also make knives in China and Taiwan......
You are right Fight, about Wally World. Besides the fact that Walmart is a huge factor or the number 1 reason many manufacturers are/have moved operations overseas, its is our fault. I hate to see the great small businesses leaving, the service and small town shopping atmosphere is much better, Wally World sure has put the hurt on them.
It really hurt me when New Balance joined the other shoe makers for overseas a few years ago. Now they are the same, even their shoes feel and fit the same.[:' (] Whitewater Outdoors, Liberty, and many others make most if not all their camo clothes outside the US too now.[:' (] Even some of Carhart' s clothes now come from outside of North America!!!![:@]
Harley Davidson
Remington
Marlin
Kimber
H&R

Yeah, Buck is moving after all these years from El Cajon, Cal. ....I heard where they were going but forgot. They got a bellyful of the Gray Davis economy and bolted.
I have done my best to help Buck and Gerber both. I just got oput my knife collection a couple night ago to make sure none of them were getting rusty. I have been collecting knives for quite a few years. I have about twenty Buck knives. About the same for Gerber and Cold Steel. Many Victorinox. I started out collecting the Swiss Army Knives. Not American made. There are however some good looking things made by the Swiss.
Fight, sadly not much of ANYTHING is strictly American Made and American Assembled. I have had 10 Harleys and everyone of them has " made in ***an" on various parts and pieces of it. My Chevy Avalanche is assembled in Mexico. My wifes Ford Windstar is assembled in Canada and my VERY ***anese Honda 4 wheeler is " built" in Ohio. My bassboat and Mercury outboard are stateside but even they have " foreign parts" in their content. I think the key is not specifically where a particular item is actually assembled as there just flat out isnt much left here in America anymore. IMO whats more imortant is where that company is based and if they are a subsidiary, where is the headquarters? The final dollar spent with American companies stays HERE! When you buy a XYZ car/truck/widget the real profit leaves this country and that DOES have an effect.
I' m guilty of owning a few things not made here, hell my favorite rifle is my Sako. My favorite optics come from Austria (as does my favorite CA governor lmao). I dont know what the answer is. I just know that what we have allowed China and Wal-Mart to do to our own job markets is rediculous but of our own making as well! [:' (]
" Global markets" sound great in the boardroom and at yearly stockholders meetings. But when you realize its American jobs that those markets replace, is it really worth it?

I' m always amused when I read a thread or artical about how all the " jobs" are moving overseas. Folks seem to be of the mindset that there are only " X" number of jobs in the whole world.
There is an infinate number of jobs, just like there is an infinate number of things to do.
I' m not sure where the concept of having one job in only one place for life came from. For many years the only folks who had true " job security" were folks in the military and a few other Government services...The trade off was, it did' nt pay very well.
It seems that it has now shifted to the point where the average EMPLOYER is obligated to the EMPLOYEE for life.
There is something wrong with that concept.
Being the nation of the free that we are, A person should have an unrestricted option of producing his goods however he or she sees fit. If that person wants to go to mexico or Tiawan to hire help, and folks here in the States will still buy his goods...Well, more power to him. If he wants to produce his product in Kentucky, then thats his option also.
The thing is, the guy who is MAKING those products is the one who has all the time, money and effort invested in making his product...not us.
Either we buy it...or we don' t.
It' s really that simple.
There is always more " stuff" to do here in the United States. We invairiably invent new things that the average guy just can' t live without. As a result, new jobs are created.
The argument that " all" the jobs are going overseas has been around since the end of World War Two when we rebuilt ***an. But for some reason, we seem to have prospered non-the-less.
