Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Delayed by the NICS

I live in Jonesboro Ar and went to wal-mart today to buy my first gun. I' m 22 and thought it wouldn' t be a problem. However I was delayed when the clerk called in to the NICS. I honestly answered no to all of the questions on the form. I have no felonies, but I do have a misdemeanor marijuana charge from a year and a half ago and have not been in troble since (a wife and a child will straighten you up real quick). I' m real dissapointed cause i was really looking forward to learning to hunt. Its a good example of how stupid decisions from the past can still affect you well into the future. Anyway, does anyone have any advice or similar situations they' ve worked out? -Nathan[:' (]

Nathan, they was probably just busy or on a coffee break, I have been delayed before and I have never had as much as a speeding ticket, The bunch that runs those NICS are pretty independent and if they get the least bit busy they will just put you on a delay. Check back a little later and see if they have approved you, chances are your gun will be ready for you to pickup.

if it comes thru ok you might want to see about a handgun permit. in my state (indiana) if you have one the next time youd be able to skip the NICS checks that are kinda quirky

After buying more guns than I can count and having held an FLL for 15 years or so, They delayed one on me the other day. Than ran it through again and it went right through. There is no way and there are no words to explaine what I think of this Stupidy and mickey mouse garbage laws that you have to go through to recieve your constituional right. Demacrat rights rationing is all it is. Throw these BUMS OUT once and for all. Why would anyone who likes to hunt or ever want to buy a gun vote for these low life sleeze bag Demacrats. Anyone who does will end the end reap these kind of rewards.[:@][:@][:@][:' (]

A friend of mine, who wanted to buy his frist shotgun, tried my BPS out and loved and wanted to get one exactly like it. For some reason there was a shortage of BPS' s this last winter and it took both of us 3 months to find a store that could order one in for him. He got pretty excited the day it came into the gundealer and went to pick it up. He asked me about the forms that had to be filled out, and I told him NOT to put his S.S. number on the form as its not necessary. We set up a time to go to the range a few days later to pattern turkey loads. Unfortunately, there were 3 others that had similar names as him in the area, and after doing a circuit court check, 2 of them had long criminal histories. He was turned down on the NICS check and had to wait 3 days for his name to be cleared in order for him to pick it up. They would not allow him to submit his SS number after the form was called in to NICS- so he had to wait.[:@]
