Why does anybody need a union? Are they afraid to stand on their own merits?

Sometimes merits has nothing to do with it. As Clint Eastwood said in " The Unforgiven" , " deserves has nothing to do with it."

I have been teaching for over 10 years. Ive never been affiliated with one and dont care to ever be. A teachers union is a place for poor educators to hide.

I might be speaking out of line here since I have never been involved with such a mess, but that is how it appears from the out side. Teachers unions are a liberal mess. As for other unions, I dont know. Some where in time they were needed. Kinda like the dinosaur. Times have changed and look at what happened to the dinosaurs (that is the ones who couldnt adapt).[
