i heard on here in another thread that pres. bush failed to overturn and gun control measures , has the assault weapons ban gone though the congress allready ??? i thought they vowed to kill it right there ?? what' s the deal with it ???
The Assault weapon ban expires in september of 2004. There are a few proposed bans to replace it being kicked around congress right now. One of these is roughly the same as the current ban with a few more restrictions on magazines, the other is very restrictive which will ban any semiauto rifle that is designed for ' sporting purposes' defined by the Attorney General.
AS long as republicans get letters of support for pro-gun positions and are assured that they will not lose their seats in the election afterward, and as long as republicans keep their seats if the bills are pushed after the elections of 2004, I think there is little chance that they will get signed into law.

thanks briman , i thought that i heard it was coming up this year , thanks for the proper info
and your right , we have to be the activists who actually fight for pro-gun legislature , the nra and other pro-gun entities aren' t enough without our support. in the northeast forum we have a petition to stop pa' s new orange camo proposal that they are trying to pass that would hinder hunting in turkey , muzzelloader , and archery season , once we have a certain amount of sig' s . we' re going to print it off and send it to the pa pgc. we' re also e-mailing them about it to.
we should do the same thing here in regard to gun control , and mail it to all of the congress , pro-gun and anti-gun members as well
Whelen36 here is a link that will bring you up to date with whats happen with the semi-auto ban . I think you will find about anything there you need , I know I did.
thank you for the link strut , it' s very informative unfortunately it also shows the future of firearms ownership will be like if a liberal gets back into office in 2004
