Six in 10 Americans oppose allowing gays and lesbians to marry and a majority favors passing a constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman.
"In general, young people, Democrats, and those who have a friend or relative who is gay, are most likely to favor allowing same-sex marriage. And while women are somewhat more inclined than men to favor allowing gays and lesbians to marry a partner of the same sex, young people are more than three times as likely as older Americans to favor it. About twice as many Democrats and independents are in favor of same-sex marriage than are Republicans."

Interesting numbers, althought the sampling was only 900 people.
RE: Homosexual marriages, party lines, youth, and wisdom
Well, as a woman, I would like to go on record as saying....Eeeeeewwwww!!!!!![X(][:@]
I do believe that the majority of Americans find the idea of homosexual marriage completely wrong. It' s very sad that younger people aren' t as disgusted as they should be. They have slowly been desensitized and have come to see it as acceptable. It started with little things. When I was younger, my little brother and I weren' t allowed to watch certain TV shows---ones that all my friends were allowed to watch. " Three' s Company" , some episodes of " Barney Miller" . At the time, I thought my mom was being ridiculous. But looking back, I see that she was horrified at the light-hearted comedy surrounding being ***** or even joking about it. But society accepted it, watched it, and let it slide. So today, we have " Will and Grace" and a whole bunch of others. And a whole lot of people who are growing up watching, laughing, and accepting it. I wish to God there was a way to go backwards!

So...
With these #' s, skewed as they may be, if put to a popular vote such a law would fail. However this won' t be settled with a popular vote. It will be decided by our Rep' s. We can oust them with a popular vote as always but by then it will be to late.
6 (asummedly heterosexuals) will vote against, 3 other hetro will vote for it, and 1 homosexual will vote for it (if the addage of 1 in 10 being homosexual is correct).
Why don' t they just enjoy their relationships and plan ahead with a nice tax shelter?
RE: Homosexual marriages, party lines, youth, and wisdom
I agree hntngirl. Things were very different when I was a young guy. I never even heard of a Homo until I joined the Navy. I only knew two people who had been divorved. Who ever dreamed at that time that anyone except a man and woman would want to get married or why. I quess its normal to think of the good old days as being better but they really were. I would trade all this technology and so called progress for a chance to live those times again in a heart beat. What can we do but try to set an example and NEVER NEVER vote for a liberal.
RE: Homosexual marriages, party lines, youth, and wisdom
There is a little glimmer of hope...
I oppose gay marriages...and I' m young and Republican...
