Santorum is the only conservative on the ticket (or at least, the MOST conservative of the three). He is not revolting like the others, either. He'd be a good candidate if only he had the money to press his advantage. If he did, you'd see him go 'on a roll' but I don't think the backing is behind Santorum. Romney is the REPUBLICAN candidate...republicans are not necessarily conservatives and in that regard, Romney is true to form. It is quite clear that the national party (R) is more interested in their candidate rather than winning the election...I think Santorum could take the White House if he had backing.
I've always liked Santorum, but I have kind of been behind Newt just because he seemed to be the only one left who could beat Romney. Newt in my opinion has really blown it. He had an opportunity to show some presidential muster lately as Romney bombarded him with the negative ads, but instead he showed some thin skin and really let it get to him. Up until now, I think a lot of people were thinking a vote for Santorum was helping Romney. I think Tues. night changed that. I think the biggest loser Tues. was Newt. If Santorum don't blow it, and can stand up to what Romney is about to throw at him, I think he might could be in the drivers seat.
All I know it that this year, My vote in Texas on super Tuesday is really going to mean something. Most of the time the candidate is already picked.
I think Santorum is about to get all of the anti Romney vote, and with that will come a whole bunch of money.
