I saw a discussion on FOX about how the turnout at primaries has been mediocre. The talking heads thought this was a grave situation. Charles Krauthammer, for example, pronounced this to be a foreboding sign.
Well, maybe the pundits are right. Alternatively, maybe the voters just aren't going out to the primaries because it doesn't matter to them who the Republican candidate is, they will be voting for anything that can fog a mirror that the Republicans put up. This describes to some extent my view. Sure, I can appreciate the argument that people OUGHT to want to bias the field to their preferred Republican with a heartbeat, but seriously, does it make a big difference?
So, what is your thought? Have the pundits mistaken the implications of low turnouts in the Republican primaries? Does low turnout in the Republican primaries presage low Republican turnout in the November elections? I say not. What say you?
I think not too many are excited about their choices.
Many of my Rep friends don't have much energy looking ahead. Can't win simply by saying the other guy is a bumb. America needs a plan to defeat Obama not just Rhetoric.

I will agree, I am not exicted about the choice. But I can recall someone else winning by default. Back in 2008 Obama beat Bush even though Bush was not running.
At this point, the election is not Obama's to win, yet the Republicans to lose. There will be many antiObama votes. I do not know a single person who voted for Obama who is going to again.

I agree with you. I think as the general gets closer people will get more active. It sounds to me more like the media are trying to make up a story.
Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. Lots of advertising space to sell before this fall.

For me, anyone they can prop up long enough to be recognized as a candidate for the republicans will be my candidate. Turnout can be mediocre...too early to tell what the cause of this is but I will always keep in mind the fact that the media is attempting to foment public opinion by telling the story that there's no excitement about any of the candidates. Basically, we have an anti-Obama vote for some, and a Pro-republican vote regardless of who's wearing the suit. And just to be accurate, Obama beat Sara Palin last go-round....yes....he was able to beat a woman demonized by the MSM as an abject idiot...and her grampa..... This is going to be a republican victory, regardless of who the candidate is. One thing for sure, is that Obama will be the loser.
