Default Greedy Romney gave more to charity than Obama and Biden.

Obama 1% Romeny 15%
Biden $369
Liberals love to force others to give to charity, but do not want to spend their money on the poor.

10% to the church that is mandatory....that brings mitt down to 5%...
Talk about a Cult...

and fox news? really? find a real source.

as to the 5% I'm sure that has something to do with tax deduction, ie his 13.9% income tax on over 25 million in 1 year!

but I'm sure you and "mitt" have plenty in common.

If you even paid income tax, I'm willing to bet it was more than 13.9%

Man these republicons sure do pull the wool over your eyes.

Start listening to Thom Hartmann on the radio for once instead of Rush.

Ignorance at its best again. FYI, 10% to the church isn't mandatory. What exactly would the church do if he said no, I'm not going to pay it? Come to the house with guns drawn? Put him in jail? Oops, that's you doing that while hiding behind uncle Sam's guns.

No lets look at the other 5%. Hmmm, you think it's a tax deduction? Not even close. When you make took much money, something I'm willing to bet you don't and have never been affected by, there is something called the AMT. better known as the Alternative Minimum Tax. Bottom line, by law you must calculate your taxes 2 ways. With deduction or without. By law you must file your forms which ever way forces you to pay more.

Most Mormons do. Probably 80% or so.

And your point? Fyi, Charity is noble. You handing behind uncle Sam and dipping your hands into my pockets is stealing.

Tell me when does it become legal? If you and your friend put a gun in my face and steal my wallet, is that legal? How about if your with 100 of your friends? What if you're with 1,000,000 of your friends? What about 100,000,000?

Good for Romney. It wasn't to be a comment on whether he should be taxed more or not.

I'd only take whatever you had stolen from society i.e. rent-seeking behavior. Fair?

well, fact is that even at 5%, it's FIVE TIMES more, percentage wise, than the president.
Now if Barry made 3mil, that 1% = 30k. IF Mitt made 54mil, then it's $2,700k.
Hardly comparable. I tend to agree with the idea that dems will donate OTHER people's money, but none of their own. This seems to be borne out here.....

Cool

What's wrong with rents?

You own property.

Someone wants to use your property.

They agree to pay you for the right to use it.

It works for people for whom it's inconvenient for some reason to own the property and yields income for the owner. It's strictly business. And it's taxable income.

Yeah...I know....I don't get it either. He tried to explain it to me, but I can't really see what the objection is. It just seems capitalist in it's basest form. He's looking at rents as somehow evil.....I'm trying to understand the difference so I can engage as more than just an idiot (hell ! I don't wanna sound like SAL !) but it's just not happening. I'm too old a capitalist to entertain the notion that making money off of one's holdings might be wrong. Don't see it.
